The start of summer has truly given us reason to celebrate as COVID-19 restrictions ease and we can enjoy the season with a renewed sense of appreciation for time spent together. I have been humbled during the pandemic period by the unwavering dedication to our mission from our trustees and supporters that has allowed us to weather the ups and downs of what has been an unpredictable journey for our nonprofit.

As the famed song lyric goes, it's through "a little help from our friends" that we can get through anything. One of those dedicated friends was recently lost. The Honorable Chester Apy served as the first counsel to MCF and filed the original nonprofit paperwork to found the organization back in the 1970's when a land trust dedicated to Monmouth County was still only an idea. He remained a loyal and supportive friend up until his passing on May 30th 2021. We remember him fondly and wish to recognize the important contributions he made to MCF and many local causes.

With that, I wish you all a wonderful and safe 4th of July celebration. Thank you for being a friend to MCF. We couldn't do it without you!

Sincerely,

William D. Kastning, AICP
