We're Partnering with Nutella for the Nutella Nonna Holiday Contest

This holiday season Nutella® is inviting baking enthusiasts of all ages to get their signature Nutella recipe "Nutella Nonna Approved" while encouraging families and friends to create special holiday baking memories, together. Those who participate are entered for a chance to win a grand prize trip to Italy and one of 200+ weekly prizes. For every entry through December 11th, Nutella will also donate $1 to Generations United (up to $10,000). To enter, simply share your Nutella holiday recipe on Instagram using #NutellaNonnaContest and tag @Nutella. Generations United's Global Intergenerational Conference will be held July 26-28, 2023 in Washington, D.C. Be sure to save the dates and start planning to join us. Applications Due Today for Exemplary Kinship/Grandfamilies Policy, Practice, and Program Designation

READY FOR RECOGNITION? The Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network wants to lift up your exemplary policy, practice, or program!

The Network is seeking to identify and designate exemplary kinship/grandfamilies policies, practices, and programs to elevate good work and share exemplary strategies with others. The Network encourages applications from government agencies in states, tribes, and territories, as well as private kinship navigator programs and other community-based organizations that serve kinship/grandfamilies. Technical Assistance Requests

As always, the Network is accepting individual technical assistance (TA) requests from professionals who work in systems or organizations that serve kinship/grandfamilies. Fill out the TA request form to receive support from our team. Learn more and sign up to access our resources!

Culture United - Keepunumuk: Weeâchumun's Thanksgiving Story


Keepunumuk: Weeâchumun's Thanksgiving Story by Danielle Greendeer, Anthony Perry, Alexis Bunten, and Garry Meeches Sr. (Illustrator) is a picture book about Thanksgiving from a Native American perspective. A Mashpee Wampanoag grandmother tells her two grandchildren about how their ancestors aided the Pilgrims by honoring and harvesting the "Three Sisters" -corn, beans, and squash. During a three-day celebratory meal to welcome the newcomers, the Wampanoags taught the Pilgrims how to harvest and care for the Three Sisters. This picture book includes a pronunciation guide and more details about the Wampanoag’s beliefs in ancestor spirits.

They just launched their Holiday Edition designed to encourage deeper conversations at holiday gatherings this year. It’s easy to sign up to host a dinner in your community and choose conversation prompts to guide your meal. Learn more.

Upcoming Partner Webinars


On Nov. 17 at 2:00 p.m. ET, join the National Council on Aging's Equity in Aging Collaborative for a U.S. Census Bureau Quick Dive into Data Visualization Tools. During this virtual training, Census subject matter experts will discuss Census data tools that contribute to a more holistic picture of how individuals are aging in the U.S. The webinar will conclude with a brief demonstration on how to access data tables using data.census.gov and a Q&A with experts. Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities

Residential (Long Term Foster Care) Services for Unaccompanied Children is a Standing Notice of Funding Opportunity (SNOFO) from the Office of Refugee Resettlement/Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Operations (ORR/DUCO) within the Administration for Children and Families. It is designed to support long-term foster care providers. Applications are due by November 29. Learn more.


The Actors' Equity Foundation Theatre Grants are awarded to theatres that have a current 501c3 tax-exempt status, an established artistic and administrative track record, a history of fiscal responsibility, and have worked to improve the state of the theatre. Applications must be submitted by November 30. Learn more. 


The JAMS Foundation/ACR Initiative for Students and Youth provides funding for conflict prevention and dispute resolution programs for pre-K-12 students and for adults working with youth populations in ways that directly transfer conflict resolution education skills from adults to youth. Grants will range from $20,000 to $40,000. The deadline for submitting initial project idea descriptions is January 9, 2023; invited applications will be due May 19, 2023. (An informational conference call will be held on November 21, 2022, and attendance is strongly advised.) Learn more.


Eisner Foundation New York City Grants are now open. Nonprofit organizations with intergenerational efforts operating in one or more of New York's five boroughs are encouraged to apply no later than January 15, 2023. Review the criteria and guidelines, and begin your application here.


Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Youth Grants of $250 or $500 will support youth leaders ages 5-25 across the U.S. to turn their ideas into action for Global Youth Service Day 2023 and make an impact towards ending childhood hunger in America. T-Mobile Hometown Grants is a $25 million five-year initiative, which began in April 2021, to support the people and organizations that help small towns across America thrive and grow. T-Mobile is putting out the call again for potential new awardees. Applications will be accepted on a quarterly basisLearn more.


The Community Heart & Soul Seed Grant Program provides $10,000 in startup funding for resident-driven groups in small cities and towns across the United States to implement the Community Heart & Soul model. Grant funding requires a $10,000 cash match from the participating municipality or partner organization. Applying organizations must be from communities with populations of 2,500 to 30,000. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all grants have been awarded. Learn more.

Think Intergenerational - Great Resources

2022 KIDS COUNT Data Book: The 33rd edition of the Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT® Data Book describes how children in America are in the midst of a mental health crisis, struggling with anxiety and depression at unprecedented levels. This year’s publication continues to present national and state data across four domains — economic well-being, education, health, and family and community — and ranks states in overall child well-being. The report includes pre-pandemic figures as well as more recent statistics, and shares the latest information of its kind available. Learn more.


Call for Practice Briefs - GrandFamilies: The Contemporary Journal of Research, Practice and Policy: Do you run a program for grandfamilies and other kinship caregivers? The National Research Center on Grandparents Raising Grandchildren's online journal, GrandFamilies: The Contemporary Journal of Research, Practice and Policy, invites practitioners to submit a short summary of their program. The submission deadline is December 15, 2022. Completed manuscripts should be submitted online. 2022 State of Grandfamilies Report  Together at the Table: Supporting the Nutrition, Health, and Well-Being of Grandfamilies includes the latest findings on grandfamilies facing high rates of hunger and food insecurity, as well as policy recommendations to help feed grandfamilies. Read the report to explore the data and learn why we need to change current policies to ensure access to adequate nutritious food for grandparents.


Racial Equity Toolkits are designed to give resources and tips to child welfare agencies, other government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, so they can better serve all grandfamilies. Generations United has produced a toolkit for American Indian and Alaska Native grandfamilies, African-American grandfamilies, and Latino grandfamilies. Learn more.


Sharing Our Space: A Toolkit for Developing and Enhancing Intergenerational Shared Sites is designed for individuals and organizations interested in creating an intergenerational shared site or enhancing services at their current site. Divided into 10 sections, the toolkit details every step of the development and operation process, from initial planning to sustaining long-term shared site programs. Learn more.


Making the Case for Intergenerational Programs provides rationale and facts to help make the case for intergenerational programs. It is based on a comprehensive review of the literature on intergenerational programs and highlights evidence-based findings on how intergenerational programs benefit everyone. There is also an accompanying fact sheet available in English and Spanish. Learn more.


Staying Healthy Across Generations: Vaccines are Essential for All Ages is an infographic that illustrates that vaccines aren't just for kids - they protect all generations - especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Staying up to date on vaccines for the flu, pneumonia, and whooping cough is important to protect both older adults and children. Learn more.
