Office Closure
July 3 - July 5, 2021

SDYS offices will be closed from Saturday, July 3 through Monday, July 5 in observation of the federal holiday. We will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, July 6.
2021-2022 Placements

Ensemble placements and tuition assistance notifications for the 2021-2022 season will be sent out by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, July 2. Please do not contact the office regarding placements until after the Fourth of July weekend.

If you do not receive your placement email by the end of the day tomorrow, please log onto https://myinfo.sdys.org/ and check your spam folder. If you decide not to accept the offer of placement, please email the conservatory team at conservatory@sdys.org. Placement decisions are final and cannot be changed.

August Auditions for NEW Students

Registration for the 2021-2022 season has closed for all returning students, but registration is still open for students who are NEW to SDYS, now through July 22.

We have several positions open as we plan to return to in-person activities. If you would like to learn more, please visit www.sdys.org/jobs to read the job descriptions.

  • Conservatory Program Assistant (30 hr/wk)
  • Community Program Assistant (16-20 hr/wk)

  • Teaching Artists (Violin/Viola, Cello, Brass)
Would you like to be a ChIMES Guest Musician?

We are looking for Conservatory musicians to come demonstrate their instrument for young children ages 0-5 and their caregivers as a ChIMES Guest Musician during our 4-week June session. ChIMES classes are currently taking place OUTDOORS in Balboa Park or Liberty Station on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. Come play a short piece of your choice, as well as a classic kid favorite like Twinkle Twinkle or If You're Happy and You Know It.

This is a fun experience that also counts for volunteer or community service hours!

San Diego Symphony High School Ambassador Program
August, 2021

Deadline to apply: 6/30/2021 at 11:59pm

The San Diego Symphony’s High School Ambassadors is a paid internship summer program to develop high school students for future employment. The program includes personal and professional development workshops, job shadowing opportunities, and a capstone project and will be compensated at $14 per hour. Participants will work as ambassadors for the San Diego Symphony within the community and during the inaugural season at The Rady Shell.

Program Benefits:

  • Develop skills in: professional etiquette and demeanor, communication, customer service, finances, life-work balance, time and stress management 
  • Learn from industry professionals within a leading arts organization
  • Broaden your artistic palette through participation at The Rady Shell's events and concerts
  • Contribute to increase our community's awareness of the San Diego Symphony's programs
