A Note from the Executive Sponsor
|
|
Summer is in full swing and I'm happy to say that Alaskans are out supporting their local businesses in droves! We're hearing from communities all over the state that locals and independent travelers alike are filling restaurants and hotels and that the summer season is going better than expected. All of those dollars going into Alaskan businesses are helping our economy to recover faster and will get us on the road to recovery!
There is a lot going on this month, so I hope you take some time off from fishing and hiking to read about some of the great programs and partnerships that BuyAlaska is sharing. As always, if your business isn't in the BuyAlaska directory yet sign up today! It's free and you get access to benefits from many of our corporate sponsors like FedEx, Constant Contact, and Quickbooks.
Sincerely,
Jon Bittner
Alaska SBDC Executive Director

This July, follow us as we head to remote towns throughout Alaska and highlight Alaskan restaurants, lodges, shops, galleries, and more - all open for business.
There are close to 400 public airports in Alaska, but only 20 with service from major US carriers. To help connect you to our remote communities across the state, we have partnered with FlyLocal. FlyLocal allows you to explore & book flights to unique Alaskan destinations aboard local air carriers.
FlyLocal and support local Alaska businesses this July. We can't wait to Rediscover Alaska with you!

Lemonade Day Alaska a Sweet Success
|
|
|
Lemonade Day Alaska is an annual program under the Alaska Small Business Development center that teaches K-12 children how to plan and launch their own business through a tried and true method: A lemonade stand.
Since 2011, more than 18,000 kids in over 70 Alaska communities have sold over $5 million worth of lemonade, the program reports.
We are proud to announce that the last Saturday of June is now officially considered Lemonade Day in Alaska according to Governor Mike Dunleavy.
