VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Meet Carolyn Pryor!

"We are very lucky to have the opportunity to meet new people and stay busy with such a worthwhile cause."

Carolyn is a beloved member and volunteer, joining the DVN family in March of 2020. Carolyn is married with two daughters. She and her family moved to North Carolina from Connecticut.

Carolyn was formally an administrative assistant. She also worked as an EMT. Carolyn volunteered in many different positions while her children were in school, including helping with the PTO, Girl Scouts, and driving the marching band trailer.
Carolyn's current volunteer work with DVN includes offering transportation to doctor appointments, the gym, and other errands. She has also helped with small chores such as changing light bulbs for members. She enjoys her time with DVN and encourages others to volunteer or become a member.

Carolyn is an incredible asset and friend to DVN, and we are thankful for her contributions and service.

The golden-rod is yellow;
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.
The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.
The sedges flaunt their harvest,
In every meadow nook;
And asters by the brook-side
Make asters in the brook.
From dewy lanes at morning
the grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather,
And autumn’s best of cheer.
But none of all this beauty
Which floods the earth and air
Is unto me the secret
Which makes September fair.
‘T is a thing which I remember;
To name it thrills me yet:
One day of one September
I never can forget.
Recipe: Wing Dip

The fall is an incredible time to celebrate traditions and cozy gatherings with friends, family, and neighbors. There's no better excuse for hosting the ones you love than to watch a football game. Whether you are an NFL fan or you enjoy college ball, appetizers are always a necessity.

This recipe comes from a special gift my husband and I received at our wedding. A dear friend secretly reached out to our loved ones for recipes and put them in a book to give us for our wedding. Handwritten recipes from the people we love most to cherish forever. Among the contributions was a perfect football-watching, crowd-pleasing appetizer from a friend we enjoyed watching our college ball games with. This one's for the folks who love or have guests who would enjoy a little bit of spice in their dip!
