Greetings from the Old Dog House !
Hi Everyone,
Here is an update on the new dogs and the dogs that we have lost and what's going on at the
Old Dog House.
May 19 -20th we had a snow storm that dropped a foot of snow. Luckily it melted quickly but then
we had to deal with mud in the yard.
Smokie Joe, our Frenchie mix, was diagnosed with diabetes in April. He has responded well and is doing fine on his medication.
Bella, our chocolate Lab that we got in March, had a mass taken off her leg. Luckily it wasn't an aggressive cancer and she has fully recovered. While I was at the vets office for her surgery,I was asked by the staff if I would consider taking a
Standard Poodle named Athena. She is around 12 years old and has been here about 3 1/2 weeks. She was a neglect case and was surrendered to my vet. She had not been groomed in a very long time so she was shaved. Once she was evaluated by the vet her main issue was dehydration and arthritis. She did have some issues with mobility but that has greatly improved. Athena was also under weight at 32#. My vet says she should weigh 50 to 55 #. I am thrilled to have our first standard Poodle and so excited about her progress. We hope Athena will be with us for many years to come.
A couple of weeks ago I got a call from a shelter that I work with asking if I would consider taking in a pair of 14 year old Chihuahua's. Coco and Max arrived the 25th of June. Their owners wife
had passed away last year and the husband had a recent fall and was hospitalized. There was no one to care for them. I have let the shelter know that if he fully recovers and wants his dogs back, we will arrange a transport.
