Program Highlights
Ph.D. student Fatemeh Alimardani (ECE/ISR) received one of 12 scholarships awarded in December 2021 by the WTS (Women’s Transportation Seminar) Washington, D.C. Chapter (WTS-DC). Alimardani is advised by Distinguished University Professor John Baras (ECE/ISR).
Sagnik Bhattacharya, a Ph.D. student of Professor Prakash Narayan (ECE/ISR), has been named a 2022 Clark School Future Faculty Fellow. The Future Faculty Program is designed to prepare Ph.D. students for careers in academia.

Distinguished University Professor Dinesh Manocha received a 2022 Verisk AI Faculty Research Award. The award funding will support the generation and use of synthetic datasets to improve the accuracy of machine learning methods. These synthetic datasets can be combined with real-world datasets for training the neural networks.
Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland.

Responsibilities include leadership of a highly research-active department, program
development with industrial partners, and stewardship of strong academic programs.

Timir Datta-Chaudhuri (ECE Ph.D. ‘15) and 13 colleagues in the Institute of Bioelectronic Medicine at The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research have developed a fully-implantable wireless bidirectional vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) and sensing device for mice. The invention has the potential to transform how bioelectronic medicine research is conducted in labs worldwide.
