Welcome to the weekend and the latest edition of the Village of Forest Park's weekly e-newsletter! Please use this e-newsletter as a resource to provide you with the latest news, events and resources in and around Forest Park!

Municipal Parking Lot Maintenance Closures

The Public Works Department will be continuing their yearly deep cleaning of various Municipal parking lots this coming week. This consists of de-weeding, trimming shrubs/trees, sweeping and line striping. Please keep a look out for lot closure signage in village owned parking lots. All parking lots are posted one week in advance at the entrance and exit of each parking lot. All violators will be ticketed and towed. Thank you for your cooperation.

 

This coming week’s parking lots (Tuesday, 8/16):

  • Hannah Ave. - East and West Lots
  • Constitution Court (Thomas Ave. Lot)
  • Beloit Ave. - East and West Lots
  • Ferdinand Lot


Now Hiring Crossing Guards



The Forest Park Police Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Crossing Guard. This position requires flexible hours during days when schools are in session. A background investigation and drug screening will be conducted prior to consideration for the position. Crossing Guard – Hourly Rate of Pay $16.73 (Hours 7:30am - 8:30am / 2:30pm – 3:30pm; occasional ½ days 7:30am – 8:30am – 11:00am – 12:30pm)

Concert in the Park- August 18, 2022

Hey Forest Park Residents! Head over to the Park District of Forest Park’s Admin. Building (7501 Harrison St.) on Thursday, August 18 for an evening that is sure to contain some fireworks 😉


This End Up will be rocking out on the front lawn from 6:30-8:00pm, and then who knows what kind of colorful fun could be planned when it gets dark outside?! The sky is the limit! We hope to see you next Thursday!”

 Mosquito Spraying- West Nile Virus


Spraying for adult mosquitoes will be conducted during evening hours between dusk and midnight as needed in the specific areas. The District lists all areas to be sprayed on a particular evening on its website at desplainesvalleymad.com, on a recorded message available after 3:30pm at 708-447-1765,  and on its Facebook page.

988 -24/7 Crisis and Support Number Information


On July 16, 2022, 988 will be the new three-digit number for call (multiple languages), text or chat (English only) that connects people to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, where compassionate, accessible care and support are available for anyone experiencing mental health–related distress. The chat feature will be available through the Lifeline’s website. People can use 988 if they are having thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crises, or any other kind of emotional distress. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.


988 offers 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing mental health-related distress. That could be:

  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Mental health or substance use crisis, or
  • Any other kind of emotion distress


People can call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org for themselves or if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.



988 serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the United States, you can reach a trained crisis counselor who can help.


Simply calling or texting 988 or chatting 988lifeline.org will connect you to compassionate care and support for mental health-related distress.
