Our Annual Spring Luncheon Was a Success!
Our annual WIP Spring Luncheon, held May 10, celebrated a record attendance of 82 guests!

Upon arrival at the Colleton River Nicklaus Clubhouse, all were met with the dulcet sounds of jazz musician Erez Dessel, which was a perfect complement to the ivory and seafoam palette that adorned the dining room.

Our outgoing Advisory Board Chair, Elizabeth Loda, warmly welcomed all guests, and WIP member, Reverend Pam Fahrner, delivered a meaningful blessing to all. As guests enjoyed a delicious lunch, Mary Stuart Alderman, Grants Committee Chair introduced project reports from the 2021 grants recipients. She then presented cheques to the 2022 recipients representing the 2022 theme, Helping Families Recover from the Effects of the Pandemic

Two heartfelt moments occurred when Elizabeth thanked Martha Anne McDonald for her committed two terms of service in promoting membership growth for Women in Philanthropy, and when incoming Advisory Board Chair Lesley Gilbert presented Elizabeth with a beautiful birdhouse in recognition of her outstanding service as Advisory Board Chair from the membership.

A Special “Thank You” to Elizabeth Loda for her leadership as Chair of the WIP Advisory Board.

The Legacy/Lifetime WIP members gathered for a photo after the Spring Luncheon.
Legacy/Lifetime status is achieved when $10,000 is contributed within a three-year timespan. Once Legacy/Lifetime contribution has been completed, full membership in Women in Philanthropy is ongoing with or without additional optional donations.

If you are considering making your membership Legacy/Lifetime, please alert Lisa Hodge or Debbie Cahoon at the Community Foundation.
A Party Favor with Flair
Lovely Logo car magnets were the Spring Luncheon party favor!

If we all display our car magnets proudly on the rear fender or on the back beside the license plate, we will introduce our organization to the community and hopefully spark inquiry.

We have already spotted several in local parking lots! If you would like one, call Elizabeth (843) 422-3587.
Nature Brought to Life
Naturalist Carol Clemons brought nature to life on our Pinckney Colony Refuge tour.

The morning began with a tailgate breakfast (tablecloth included 😊). A selection of quiche, mimosas (bottled water and OJ too) and Madeline’s!

From there, we toured the marsh, but the fiddler crabs were nowhere to be found. The osprey nest and soaring Mississippi kite were a beautiful treat - and the adolescent alligator that crossed our path added a bit of excitement! The pollinator garden was lush, and many of our curious nature questions were answered by Carol, who never disappoints!

2023 Grant Theme Choices
Three dynamic 2023 grant themes have been selected by the Grants Committee for you to choose from.

Tremendous appreciation goes to the Grants Committee for a year of careful thought and creativity. Any one of these three will give us an excellent theme to work around next year - all important and all worthwhile.

Please look for an email in July to vote for your 2023 grant theme choice:

  1. Strengthening mental health services for children and young adults through age 21
  2. Supporting women on the path to long-term self-sufficiency
  3. Providing and developing programs for those who are grieving
