Volume 12, Issue #26
June 30, 2022

In the name of Christ, we embrace all people to be nourished and empowered by the Holy Spirit to love and serve the world.
FROM PETER'S PEN

Next week is the 80th General Convention of the Episcopal Church in Baltimore. The Church usually comes together every three years to pray, reflect, and do needed work. This convention is a nearly two-week process; however, due to COVID, this year's event is scaled back to four business days and two travel days. Much will be done in a very short time!

At the General Convention, we take time to vote on hundreds of resolutions – everything from proposed changes to the Book of Common Prayer to lobbying work for climate change and healthcare. It is a major undertaking to gather up the views of nearly a million Christians from around the globe and craft those into working plans that will help us be the Church in our contemporary world. Please keep the General Convention in your prayers.

Also, I ask you to consider prayerfully whether you may be called to be a deputy to the next General Convention in 2024 in Louisville (COVID has interrupted the normal three-year cycle of meetings). We will elect our 2024 General Convention deputies later this year at our annual diocesan convention in October. Please see me if you need more information.

With Joy,
Peter +

A PRAYER FOR UKRAINE
God of peace and justice,
We pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
That your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
For wisdom, discernment and compassion
To guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
That you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
Archbishop Justin Welby – Archbishop Stephen Cottrell
