YELLOW RIBBON WEEK - JANUARY 24-28TH

Jefferson Elementary School will be participating in The Great Kindness Challenge during the week of January 24th – 28th. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness on campuses nationwide. Our district is proudly participating in this proactive, positive bullying prevention initiative and hope you can join us too!

Attached to this letter, you will find the daily spirit days with daily kindness themes, and a list of “Kindness Challenges.” Please encourage your child to perform as many kind deeds as possible.

There are many perks to practicing kindness every day! When children learn to be caring and kind, they also benefit developmentally. Happier, kind kids are more likely to show higher academic achievement. Well-liked children display more positive, less aggressive behaviors when they become teenagers. Being kind also produces endorphins in our brains making us feel good inside, increasing our sense of well-being and self-worth.

So let’s get to it!

Jefferson is proud to partner with the American Heart Association through Kids Heart Challenge! We’ll be kicking off in February (Heart Month), but you can get a jump start by joining our online team.

Download the FREE Kids Heart Challenge App for Apple or Android or visit www.heart.org/khc to get started. When registering, your child will choose a heart healthy challenge to Be Active or Be Kind and earn a FREE Road Warrior Wristband! Our goal is to have 100% of our students register online and take the Challenge.

Student who raise $150+ online before our assembly on 2/2 will earn a BONUS XL Captain KHC Explorer!

Mahayana New Year is celebrated this year on January 18 by Buddhists around the world.

The term Mahayana encompasses Buddhist ideologies and philosophies. Mahayana is one of the two main branches of Buddhism and is mostly practiced in Northeast Asia — China, Japan, Tibet, Taiwan, Mongolia, and Korea.

Registration is now open for the Village Runner St. Patrick’s Day Race on March 13, 2022! Sign up now as prices will increase in February.

RBEF & RBUSD WELCOME THE FIRST ANNUAL ESPORTS TOURNAMENT

In the 7-week program, the participating middle and high school students will learn from industry experts how to turn their excitement for playing video games into a career behind the games. To compete, the students will form four-member teams and battle against the other teams within each school. The top teams will advance to the Championship.
