The Roanoke Connect team has been meeting recently with leaders from Bertie, Gates, Halifax, Hertford and Bertie counties. These community leaders have demonstrated significant interest in working collaboratively with Roanoke Connect to deploy broadband throughout their respective counties, including the most rural areas.
The common themes from those meetings include the following:
- The cost will be enormous.
- The team must begin planning now to position the program to receive critically needed state and federal funding support to help defray the huge cost of reaching each county in its entirety.
- To achieve the collective goal of extending broadband service to the entire region will require creativity and collaboration between counties and internet service providers, who are equally committed to serving rural citizens, as Roanoke Connect has already demonstrated.

- Service is now available in the Jackson, Conway, Mapleton and Aulander areas, and it’s not too late to request service. Please continue to sign-up at register.roanokeconnect.com or call our office at 1-800-433-2236 to speak with a member of the Roanoke Connect team.

Service connections are beginning in Gates County. The Roduco and Eason Crossroads areas are ready for home installations.

- Construction and service connections will be available in the Windsor/Merry Hill areas soon. Please continue to encourage neighbors, family, or friends to sign up. Once you are signed up, we will notify you when we are ready to set up new accounts for the upcoming area.
