On June 29th, 2021, NOTO held a press conference with operators from across Northern Ontario.

The goal of this press conference was to get the Federal Government's attention on the urgent need to get the Canada-US border open to fully vaccinated Americans by July 22nd so that operators can salvage what remains of the season.

Participating speakers, composed of operators from across the North, shared their stories with media on how the Canada-US border closure has impacted them and their businesses, and what will happen if the border remains closed and there is no additional Government supports.

We want to thank all of our presenters for participating in the press conference today. David, Ryan, Sue, Carol, Jackie and Alan did a fantastic job bringing the impacts felt by all of this sector to the forefront. Thank you!

NOTO also took the opportunity to share the details of a proposed pilot project with the media. This proposal was developed by the Northern Ontario Border Working Group that is co-chaired by Destination Northern Ontario, Tourism Industry Association of Ontario and NOTO.
