How did you become involved with mentoring through Hillsborough Education Foundation?
I became involved with mentoring through my want to find a positive and fulfilling way to connect my human services background with public education. I was immediately drawn to mentoring because it allows me to use a strengths-based approach with helping youth feel empowered in their journey to a post-secondary education!
What has been the most rewarding part of mentoring?
The most rewarding part of mentoring has been the opportunity to witness the talents, resilience, and confidence in my mentees!
What do you believe is the key to being a quality mentor?
To me, the key to being a quality mentor is having a desire to grow in the experience. Regardless of your background or experiences, a quality mentor is excited and curious to learn from their mentee(s).
When you are not working with students, how do you prefer to spend your free time?
When I am not working with students, I prefer to spend my free time with my family, my daughter, and friends!
What do you hope your mentee will learn from you?
I hope that my mentees will learn to always celebrate what makes them unique and passionate and what they want to do!
