What's going on this month at BPL?
The library will be closed on Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen Tuesday, July 6 with our normal hours.

The library is closed on Sundays through September 5.

Please note: The outdoor wi-fi will remain on during holiday closings and on Sundays throughout the summer. Access is free and is available 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

Bloomingdale Public Library's Summer Reading Program runs June 1-July 31, 2021. We have challenges, programming, and fun for all ages!

We are planning outdoor programming for all ages this summer! These programs will be held in the gazebo.

Tuesdays, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Outdoor Craft for Adults & Teens (drop-in)
Wednesdays, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Outdoor Chess Club for ages 8-18 (drop-in)
Fridays, 10:30 a.m. - Outdoor Storytime for all ages (registration required)


Due to close proximity, face masks are recommended.

College of DuPage Placement Testing
Bloomingdale Public Library is offering placement testing in the summer for students to register for free online English and Citizenship classes through the College of DuPage. Placement testing will take place on Wednesdays in August at 9:00 a.m. A testing appointment is required.

BPL General Information:
Bloomingdale Public Library will remain open during our regular hours. The procedures we currently have in place fit within the state's updated guidelines (which were updated June 11, 2021). We will continue to offer in-person services such as reference help and book/DVD checkouts, as well as virtual programming, until further notice. Our meeting rooms are closed through June 30, 2021.

We will be following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the state's Restore Illinois plan as we expand our services in the future. Please see www.mybpl.org/covidinfo for future updates.

Entry Requirements
Illinois has moved into Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Plan, so the Library has updated our building rules accordingly:
  • If you are fully vaccinated, masks are no longer required in the Library.
  • If you are not vaccinated, masks are strongly recommended. If you do not have a mask, one is available upon request.
  • Special mask rules may apply for programming; please see the program description or contact the Library for more details.
  • As a reminder, some patrons and staff will choose to continue wearing masks for various reasons. We ask that everyone show grace and understanding to each individual.
  • Capacity limits have been removed.
  • Short visits are encouraged, but there are no time restrictions for Library or Computer Lab visits.
  • Social distancing is recommended by not required.
  • Hand sanitizers remain available throughout the library.

PLEASE remember that, at this time, we are NOT accepting material donations of any kind. Do not leave boxes of books, papers, DVDs/CDs, etc, outside our doors. We are not able to bring these materials indoors, and left outside they are a hazard and will be damaged by weather. Please hold materials until an announcement is made after we reopen that we are once again accepting donations. We thank you for your patience.

Wi-Fi Extended throughout Parking Lot
BPL has installed an exterior Wi-Fi antenna to our building so that our Wi-Fi signal now extends throughout our parking lot and Gazebo area. Residents without home Wi-Fi may now use this resource for remote learning, downloading of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. We have designated the back row of our parking lot as the official Drive-Up Wi-Fi location and is signed as such. Please remember to keep up social distancing rules. Remember that this is a parking lot that is still used by the Village of Bloomingdale and others, so observe all safety precautions as normal. Wi-Fi is availabe 8:00am to 10:00pm every day.
