EHGES Faculty Manuscript Featured by American Society of Nephrology
|
Mayra L. Estrella, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor at UTHealth School of Public Health Brownsville Campus, published a manuscript on the association of health literacy with clinical health outcomes in the Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation journal.
In a prospective analysis of adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) Study, participants with limited (vs. adequate) health literacy had a higher risk of CKD progression, experiencing a cardiovascular event, hospitalization, and mortality.
The publication was recently featured in the American Society of Nephrology newsletter, which summarizes key findings of kidney and renal epidemiological studies.
