Healthy people are the foundation of a healthy economy, and our economy is suffering. The Alaska Chamber firmly believes that one of the most important tools in realizing economic recovery is vaccinating for COVD-19. It is the single easiest and safe thing that individual Alaskans can do to help get our economy back on track. Why? Because recent studies show that vaccinating for COVID-19 is highly effective at preventing serious illness, hospitalizations, and death. More info at giveakashot.com.

Is a Medical Assisting Career in Your Future?
Medical assistants are multiskilled health professionals specifically educated to work in a variety of healthcare settings performing clinical and administrative duties. The practice of medical assisting necessitates mastery of a complex body of knowledge and specialized skills requiring both formal education and practical experience that serve as standards for entry into the profession.
Study Medical Assisting in Kodiak with UAS Sitka!
Dr. Suzanne Buie and Amy Samuel CMA (AAMA), AHI (AMT) Medical Assisting Program Director have put together a 37 credit, 3-4 semester Medical Assisting Certification program.
These courses are available online or in a hybrid format. There are scholarships available, and funding for any travel necessitated for the students to complete their Clinical Procedures which requires the face-to-face performance of skills and competencies during clinical lab intensives with instructor observation twice a semester.
When: Thursday, October 28, 2021 | 10 am-6 pm on the Kodiak Campus

The next Kodiak NonProfit Network meeting is October 13th at 1:30 pm via video conference. The Network meetings are open to any Kodiak nonprofit manager. Contact Pam at pam@kmxt.org to get on the email list for agenda information and meeting notices.
KMXT staff will help you produce up to a 60-second spot (or spots) that talks about your nonprofit and the services you offer. This will be played periodically throughout the year at no cost to you. You read that correctly – no cost.
You can use the time to talk about your nonprofit's programs, your mission, and your volunteer opportunities, for example. It's an opportunity to reach the public at large and for us, as nonprofits, to keep the public informed of the important services we provide to the community.

The COVID-19 pandemic has generated a public health emergency that threatens to overwhelm our health care system, endangering the lives and well-being of our citizens.
The CDC recommends wearing masks or face coverings in public settings in addition to maintaining physical distancing. In line with this recommendation, the Emergency Services Council puts forth this mask mandate regulation to preserve the health and safety of our community.
All individuals must wear masks or face coverings over their noses and mouths when they are indoors in public settings or communal spaces such as, but not limited to, grocery stores, retail stores, religious institutions, educational facilities, restaurants, and bars.
A face shield is generally not permitted in lieu of a mask or face covering, as face shields are less effective in stopping the spread of COVID-19. However, face shields may be permitted m lieu of a mask or face covering for the following individuals:
- Any individual who cannot tolerate a mask due to a physical or mental disability;
- Individuals who are communicating with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing;
- Individuals performing an activity that cannot be safely conducted while wearing a mask for example; a driver experiencing foggy glasses, a dental patient receiving care, and an equipment operator where there's a risk of dangerous entanglement.
