From the Desk of the Superintendent
Dear Church Family,

It is such a new year and a new day. Prayer Meeting is going well. We pray for our Pastors & Churches on a weekly basis. Covid is in full swing, but it is nothing to fear. "Greater God is in control!"

A few prayer requests are:
  • Suzanne Ross
  • Jean Squire
  • Musa Powers
  • Palma Neal
  • David Northup family

The annual Ministerial report has been updated. There is a link below to the new form. Please fill them out and have your church clerk fill out the annual church report.

There are many good things happening that we can praise God for. There were many baptisms this fall. There were many wonderful programs and services at our churches including Calvary Bible in Meredith, NH, and Emmanuel in Rochester, NH. We have seen several answered prayers.

There is a leaders retreat coming up February 2-4 at Advent Christian Village, however, the deadline for signing up is today.

May God continue to use us to proclaim the Gospel in 2022 and bless us despite all the challenges going on in our nation.

Lord by your spirit, cause it to be our habit to "pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling," while seeking unity as a family of churches, honoring one another and showing respect to our leaders. Amen (ref. 1 Tim 2, Eph. 4)

Grace,
Greg

Can you guess which church this is? The first person to email the office (secretary@aceasternregion.org) with the correct answer will receive a small prize. If this is your home church, we ask that you refrain from answering.
The December Church was the Dunntown Advent Christian Church in Wade, ME. Clayton Blackstone guessed the correct answer.

Monthly Devotional Thought
"Perilous Times"
A woman came to my office in despair. She was highly emotional and stressed. She began to list her grievances because people were so rude and obnoxious. She had enough dealings with people and wanted Jesus to come quickly to end all the evils around us. I am sure there are thousands of people who feel like her.
Yet, the Bible says that in the last days, this will happen. How do we deal with this? What is the answer? 2 Timothy 3:1 “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.” ESV.  NIV says, ‘But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.” The word in the original is χαλεπός (Chalepos). It literally means “hard, troublesome, harsh, fierce.” The word is used in Matthew 8:28 in reference to the demon possessed man – the legion who was extremely violent. This is the world we live in. It is evil, violent and hostile to God. Timothy tells us the reason why.
2 “For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.” (2 Timothy 3:2-5).
Yes, the world we live in is evil and violent. Yet, God’s answer to them is his love. Jesus faced this evil and violent mob by going to the cross for them. He died so we could live, be forgiven, and given the gift of eternal life.
Have you considered that before we were regenerated, we were just like them. Yet, God’s love changed us and transformed us by His word, His Spirit, and His grace. Amazing Grace – Amazing Gospel! What people need is Jesus. What people need is the gospel. Don’t give up! Don’t Despair! Persevere in sharing the gospel even if people are rude, and extremely violent.  People need Jesus. As Charles Spurgeon said, “There is a power in God's gospel beyond all description.”
As this woman sat wondering about the hostile and obnoxious people, I asked her the question, “Do you love them enough to share the Gospel with them?” Do we?

ADVENT CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE HISTORY

New Hampshire
Excerpts from Advent Christian History
By Albert C. Johnson

In 1855 the Adventists of New Hampshire in State Conference assembled, passed a strong resolution favoring Gospel order in their churches and societies and in 1856 re-endorsed the same resolution. The next year Eld. John Howell, one of the most devout and able preachers wrote strongly in the World's Crisis urging the organization of churches and the principles of unity and discipline.

The New Hampshire Conference was organized at Loudon Ridge in 1854, with nine New Hampshire churches represented. Among the twenty-four ministers present at the session of this conference, in 1860, we note the familiar names of Elds. T. M. Preble, one of the organizers of the conference, and for some years its secretary, Noah Glidden and T. W. Piper.
A prominent feature of the New Hampshire Adventist history is that of Alton Bay Campmeeting, which is located near the southern shore of Lake Winnepesaukee, and was first established in 1863. It has been continued each summer from that date, and for many years has been the largest campmeeting, held by this people in this country. Hundreds of great sermons, notable meetings, and sound conversions have graced the encampment. Here people have met and worshipped not only from all New England, but from the South, the Middle and the far West and Canada.
Meetinghouse Village reminds active and retired AC pastors that they may stay free of charge on Sunday and Monday overnights at our Tower Memorial Suite. Other nights are available at the reduced rate of $25 per night. Availability is dependent on prior bookings and certain Covid-19 protocols. To inquire about a reservation, email info@meetinghousevillage.org.
