Misinformation is Spooky: Media and News Literacy
Thursday l October 31 l 12 - 1 PM
Women's Center
Have you ever come across a news article and thought the information sounded sketchy? On college campuses, students have spoken about how misleading news sources (misinformation, disinformation, clickbait, propaganda, etc.) have affected their views on civil discourse, specifically relating to the elections.
In todayâs busy media and news landscape, students are inundated with âfake news,â âdisinformation,â and âalternative facts,â and it can be challenging to identify trustworthy information sources and spot bias.
In this workshop, we will discuss âfake newsâ and how to spot it, information bubbles, media literacy, and learn how to fact-check and evaluate information.
All are welcome! Halloween treats will be served.
