Apologies for the last Flyer sent out. Looks like the technology gremlins were at work and our message failed to be included. See our updated messages below.
Greetings Rondout Families and Faculty,
Last week we had a fabulous kick off to the new school year. Our students filled the building with their energy and enthusiasm and the ability to reconnect was exciting for students and adults alike. There are many new opportunities planned for the year ahead. This week we’ll highlight a few with more specifics to come in the days ahead. Today is the first PTSA meeting of the year. We hope that many of you will be able to participate and reconnect after these past few years. The PTSA plans to meet every other month and they are assembling a mighty group of volunteers to enrich and support our programs and our families.
Parent Coffees on Zoom will return this year. We will be hosting zoom coffees on the following Wednesday evenings this year which will alternate with the PTSA meeting months. We hope to see you on Zoom to check in, get the latest news and provide feedback. Mark your calendars for the following Wednesday Night Coffee Talks from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Administrative Team (Dr. Wojcik and Ms. Davis).
October 12, 2022/December 14, 2022/February 15, 2023/ April 19, 2023
We will also be hosting three Family Days of Service (one per trimester). We had such a great response last year to our April event, we are expanding the program. This year’s Saturday Days of Service will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. These are family oriented events so students must be accompanied by an adult. Our three days of service are as follows:
Saturday 11-5-2022 Caring for Our Community- Activities will include making blankets for Project Linus, Sorting food for a Thanksgiving Food Drive, Making Placemats and Cards for the VA Hospital for Veteran’s Day, Thank you Cards for First Responders and Making Goody Bags with notes of appreciation for the USO at Great Lakes.
Saturday 2-25-2023 Helping Our Animal Friends- Activities will focus on supporting local animal shelters and learning more about their work done in our community. Special four-legged celebrity guests are expected.
Saturday 4-22-2023 Celebrate Earth Day and join us to learn more about ways to support our planet. We will be joined by the Lake County Forest Preserve District staff for hands-on activities that will help make a difference and raise awareness of ways to support the green space in our community.
While the PTSA will also be recruiting volunteers, we would love to have some parent volunteers help with the following school based tasks:
Preparing for the November Day of Service
Prepping blanket materials (only requirement is a good pair of scissors)
Organizing materials for the USO Goody Bags
Preparing materials for card making
Open House and Library Volunteers
We are also looking for Volunteers to assist with using the “Press” to make Book Bags for a Special Family Project for Open House.
On–going volunteers
The Art Program is always in need of volunteers to hang artwork throughout the building. There is flexibility in when this can be accomplished including evenings and weekends. You can volunteer once or on a regular basis.
We are hoping to find a variety of ways to allow parents to support and be engaged within our school community. We do understand that time is precious and work/life/school balance is very important so if you can volunteer it is a bonus for us but it is not a requirement.
We have been working with Mr. Williams on expanding and enriching the Rondout Athletic Program. We are excited about the activities planned for this year which work around some of the challenges we face as a small school in this arena. Next week tune in for more information on the Rondout Athletics Program…Building Future Leaders. Mr. Williams brings a strong set of experiences as not only a teacher but a successful competitive athlete himself to this endeavor. We are truly fortunate to live in a community with many athletic opportunities for young people so there are many ways students can access athletics outside of our school community. Our program will focus on building young athletes, expanding opportunities to experience different sports while helping students develop the mindset, attitudes and teamwork skills that cross all athletic areas.
Hoping you and your families enjoyed the long weekend. We look forward to a great week of learning as students return refreshed and ready to learn.
Take Care… Until Next Time
