Message from the Principal
Dear DHS Staff, Students, and Families,

The first day of school is always filled with many emotions - excitement, a little bit of trepidation, and even some exhaustion after a long day! Yesterday's emotions certainly seemed to be heightened as we all, gratefully, returned to full, in-person learning. The greatest part of my day was witnessing the enthusiasm of our students and staff in every classroom, hallways, office, and space in our building. Tied to that enthusiasm was the caring nature of our students, who helped one another navigate the halls and get to their classes. Thank you to every individual who made this first day of school so memorable! I hope that the rest of your school year is equally as memorable.

Sincerely,
Principal Kathryn Anderson

Academics
No ID? Missing ID photo?
Student IDs were distributed to students in Homeroom on the first day of school.

Students who did not receive an ID did not have an ID photo on file (aka missed Yearbook/ID photo during Warrior Prep Days). Students without ID photos should come to the Deans' office during their Study Hall or lunch period to take their ID photo. New IDs will be distributed prior to the week of September 6. All students are able to access their electronic ID via the Infinite Campus app.

Students who missed taking their Yearbook picture during Warrior Prep days will have a an opportunity for makeup Yearbook photos later this fall. Details will be shared with students and families at a later date. (ID photos taken in the Deans office will not be used for the Yearbook.)

Questions? Contact Dean Gausselin or Dean Jimenez.
Study Hall FAQ Details
The following message was sent via email to all students on Wednesday, August 18 from Dean Gausselin and Dean Jimenez. If a student has any questions about study hall, please see the Deans.

Study Halls
  1. You are required to attend your scheduled Study Hall. Attendance is taken daily. Students may not be at the blocks or roaming hallways during Study Hall--there are no longer "free periods".
  2. IF you are scheduled to a Study Hall at the beginning or end of the day (Periods: 1, 8, 6 on a 78 day or 3rd on a 12 day), you may have your parent/guardian sign the waiver sent earlier this week. If you have a signed waiver, you will be exempt from attending that Study Hall for the semester. However, if you have grades that fall below a C-, you will be required to attend that scheduled Study Hall until your grade improves.

Study Halls and Science labs
  1. If you have a science lab that only meets for part of the period you are required to go to the library for the remaining part of the period (during the time when you are not in lab--either at the start of the period or the end of the period).
  2. You are scheduled to be in a Study Hall during off-lab periods. You are required to attend this Study Hall.

SHIELD Testing
SHIELD testing will be conducted at DHS twice per week on the days, times and locations below.

Location: J108
Mondays and Thursdays 12:00 - 4:00

Unvaccinated students in extracurricular activities and athletics are required to test once per week during one of the two testing options each week below to maintain eligibility. Vaccinated students are welcome to test, if consent is on file, but are not required to do so.

Unlike last year, testing will be conducted on a walk-in basis; no appointments are necessary. Students should only test during lunch periods, study halls, passing periods, or after school. A consent form must be on file with SHIELD in order to test. You can find more information on the COVID-19 web page.
