Matching Facade Grant Program - Phase 2 is open!

Building on the efforts from Phase 1, Discover Haverford and Haverford Township are happy to announce the opening of the Haverford Township Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program – Phase 2 which will continue to provide matching grants to businesses, nonprofits or commercial property owners for the purpose of promoting economic recovery and community revitalization through aesthetically improved business properties, visible from our public streets. Phase 2 will have expanded awards with the Township matching an applicant’s investment in qualified improvements, dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. Funds for this service are provided to the Township by the federal government through the American Rescue Plan Act. The program administrator on behalf of the Township of Haverford is the non-for-profit agency, Discover Haverford (HPED). Applicants who were previously awarded grants under Phase 1 may reapply under Phase 2 as long as their total award between the two phases does not exceed $25,000.

Deadline for Phase 2 is October 15th!

"Shop Small, Shop Local" is Theme for Haverford Township Day

We were thrilled to hear that the Haverford Township Day Committee has selected "Shop Small, Shop Local" for their theme this year. Discover Haverford is honored to be the Grand Marshall of this year's parade, for our work supporting businesses in the Township!

Stop by our booth that day to learn more about our work, how you can get involved, or just to say hello. We will also be giving out Shop Local tote bags that day, while supplies last.

Discover Haverford Welcomes Mysa Fragrance Haus

Mysa (Swedish): “To be comfortable or content with something. To be engaged in an activity that is comfortable or pleasurable.” Owner, Briana Greene was looking to create a product line that encompassed self care. Something for yourself and by yourself. Her goal was to utilize scents from her own experiences traveling as well as places she loved to be when she was a child. In January 2021 Mysa Fragrance Haus was born…in her mother’s basement! Since then, she has expanded to Havertown at 2122 Darby Road!

Briana grew up in Delaware and has traveled up and down the east coast, adding to the places that she draws her inspiration from. “When I was little I would take flowers and muddle them into water and wear that as a fragrance. Many of the fragrances are dedicated to where I used to live. A representation of who I am and where I have been.”

Each year we hand out three awards of excellence at our annual meeting, and we need your help!

Do you have a favorite shop, restaurant, or service provider in the Township?

The Standing Ovation Award is presented to a business of the highest standards, offering exceptional customer service, an attractive, welcoming environment, and engagement in the community life of Haverford Township.

All community members are eligible to nominate up to three Haverford Township businesses. Winner selected by popular vote. Previous winners cannot win again: Kettle (2017), Brick & Brew (2018), House Cup Coffee (2019), Centrella's Deli (2021).

The Donald Kelly Award for Civic Engagement is presented to a person or organization whose notable efforts and good works have impacted the quality of life and economic development of Haverford Township in meaningful and significant ways. The recipient will reflect Don’s qualities of intelligence, vision, passion, persistence, and hard work.

To nominate a person or organization for the Civic Engagement Award, please email Jeanne at jangell@hped.org. The Discover Haverford board makes the final selection.

The Windows & Facades Committee also gives out an annual Eye Catching Award for a recent facade improvement project.

Havertown Holiday Festival

Saturday, December 10th

The Havertown Holiday Festival will be a family friendly event focused on Christmas, Hanukah, and Winter Fun! We will have costumed characters, live holiday music, story time and crafts for kids, food vendors, a beer & wine vendors, a holiday marketplace, an ice sculpture demonstration, a lit holiday tree and menorah.
