Legislative Committee Meetings Begin in Tallahassee

Interim committee weeks leading up to the 2022 legislative session kicked off last Monday in Tallahassee. Each Chamber's Education Committee met and discussed the implementation of several key education bills passed last session.

State University System Chancellor, Marshall Criser III, also appeared before the House Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee last week to present the Board of Governors’ (BOG’s) Legislative Budget Request (LBR) for next session. The BOG LBR includes a request for a $150 million increase in Preeminence/National Rankings funding to be split equally between the state’s three designated Preeminent State Research Universities: USF, UF and FSU.

We will continue to keep you updated throughout the interim committee weeks and legislative session on USF's top priorities to help advance our trajectory towards a top 25 ranking in U.S. News & World Report as well as key higher education policy that develops.
