Sunapee Happenings

Labor Day is on it’s way and there’s a twist of fall in the air. Surprising hints of color are popping in the trees. School buses are on the road... and we seek new endeavors after the lazy days of summer as we look forward to glorious fall days. 

Cue the Music

Music rings out in Sunapee Harbor on this last weekend of summer for all to enjoy.

Tonight at 6:30… JOSA favorite, Greg Abati and Friends take the stage of the Ben Mere Bandstand, ending this summer's series on a jazzy note!   

Friday at 6pm: Join friends at the Livery for the Opening Reception of the Art and Music of Tom Pirozzoli. 

Saturday 5-7: Singer, songwriter, Brooks Hubbard will be the featured musician on stage next to Wild Goose Country Store. Thanks to the Sunapee Harbor Riverway for once again sponsoring this summer’s concerts at the Flanders Stage on the waterfront.

Historic Stage Curtains in New England

In celebration of the Opera House’s 125th anniversary, the Fiske Free Library and the Claremont Opera House have joined to host Christine Hadsel, of Curtains Without Borders, as she presents her illustrated talk on the painted stage curtains of New England. Ms. Hadsel will introduce us to the world of the painted stage curtain focusing on the many curtains found in the three northern New England states.

 

Suspended Worlds at the Claremont Opera House is free and open to the public. No tickets required. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the show starting at 7pm. Further information may be available by calling the Fiske Free Library at 603-542-7017.

Monday, September 12th ,7pm **VOTES FOR WOMEN: A History of the Suffrage Movement (a NH Humanities to Go presentation, presented by Liz Tentarelli)

The state has recently redrawn several voting district maps.  Sunapee is one of eight communities included in a new “Floterial” district.  The nonpartisan League of Women Voters explains it all in their recent bulletin for voters which includes a listing of candidates in each district and helpful voting instructions for absentee ballots etc.

Reminder that if you are an "undeclared" voter, you may choose a ballot for Republican or for Democrat candidates. If you're already registered with a party, that's the ballot you'll be given. All voters should bring a photo ID if possible, to speed the process for everyone. Don't have a photo ID?
