A Message from Bob Henderson: August 20, 2021
Dear friends:

McKinsey and Company recently conducted a study regarding lifestyle/habits/patterns that changed during the pandemic and which of those changes were ‘sticky’ (most likely to stay) and which were not. The report contained some surprising information.

The ‘stickiest’ development (the one people most hope to take into the future) is e-grocery shopping. Apparently, few really enjoy going to the grocery store and the pandemic incentivized large swaths of the American public to adapt in a way they now find rewarding. Grocery store chains have, in turn, adapted, and e-grocery shopping has risen to a whole new level.

The McKinsey report also highlighted that while e-groceries may be sticky, remote education is not, at least not for primary and secondary schools. Teachers, parents, and administrators all finally agree on something; in-person education is more effective than remote education for student growth and learning. I’m not sure it took a McKinsey report to let us know that, but there it is.

This weekend we’ll explore what our faith has to say about which pandemic adaptations we hope will stick and those that might need to fade. We’ll do so by reading this passage.

We’ll also celebrate our mission partnership with Highland Renaissance Academy, bless children’s backpacks (our own, kids at the Mezzanine and at Highland Renaissance Academy) and enjoy hearing from the assistant principal at Highland about their good work.

This Sunday of the year is always a moving worship experience. Come in-person or join us online. Invite a friend.

Peace,
