This newsletter corrects an error in the designation of our candidates' School Board districts. Although the graphic was correct, the district numbers for Lauren Abell and Nancy Tray were inadvertently reversed in the text. Please see below for the corrected version.

HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY?

As we celebrate the 246th birthday of our nation and the beginning of the greatest democracy the world has ever seen, what better way to celebrate than to support your local Democratic Party?

Our precious democracy is under assault and unless we act swiftly and strongly, we risk losing it altogether.

Your local party has been working hard since the 2000 election supporting rallies and protests, pushing back on DeSantis's regressive policies, registering voters, recruiting and supporting candidates, canvassing, texting, phoning, and mailing voters to promote strong Democratic turnout, representing our party's values in local media, and much more.

But we cannot do it without your help. With just 4 months to one of the most significant mid-term elections in Florida history, we need funding.

Ron DeSantis wants to win re-election for one reason: to position himself to run for president in 2024. All his culture wars and restrictions on voting are intended to galvanize his red base in this state. We cannot stand by and let this happen.

With your gift we will be able to complete our campaign and outreach beyond Democrats to ensure that leaders with our values win all up and down the ballot – locally and statewide. Please help now.

These last 4 months are critical. Soon we will publish our list of candidates who we know to have Democratic values, conduct a campaign to inform voters on how and when to return their mail ballots, strengthen our messaging effort, organize a strong Voter Protection Team, sponsor candidate forums, and distribute General Election slate cards throughout the county. YOU can support these important efforts by donating now!

MAIL BALLOTS will begin going out in mid-July!  We recommend that all Democrats request a mail ballot, because it serves as a back up just in case you can't get to the polls for some reason. Plus you receive it well ahead of the election when you can fill it out at your leisure. You do not forfeit your right to vote in person if you request a mail ballot and decide not to use it. If you haven't requested yours, we recommend doing so within the next two weeks by going to VoteSJC.com or calling 904-823-2238.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO SAFELY COMPLETE AND SUBMIT

YOUR MAIL BALLOT

  1. Complete your ballot and follow the instructions to place it in the security sleeve and provided envelope. Be sure to sign the outside of the envelope!
  2. Mail your ballot by Aug. 9th to allow plenty of time for it to reach the Elections Office (must be received in the office by 7 PM on Aug. 23rd).
  3. OR place your ballot in a Drop Box at any Early Voting location – during the hours of early voting only. Do not deliver more than two completed ballots besides your own and or immediate family members. It is illegal to do so, and all Drop Boxes will be supervised and monitored by elections staff.
  4. See when your mail ballot is received and counted by visiting VoteSJC.com or by calling 904-823-2238!

WATCH YOUR MAIL FOR VOTING INFORMATION FROM THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS

REMEMBER: Your precinct number, precinct polling place, congressional district, and early voting locations MAY have changed as a result of redistricting. The Elections Office is preparing to send a new Voter Information Card to every registered voter which will list this information, even if it has not changed. You should receive your card next week. If you do not receive it by the start of early voting, you may find this information at the elections office website, VoteSJC.com, or contact them at 904-823-2238.

CALL FOR POLL WATCHERS

Our Democratic Voter Protection Team in St. Johns County is gearing up for the 2022 Primary and General Elections. The team is seeking Democrats interested in serving as a Poll Watcher in our county. Please click HERE to indicate your interest in being a Poll Watcher in the 2022 Election Cycle.

As a reminder - a Poll Watcher is authorized by the Supervisor of Elections to enter the Polling Place and watch what is going on. A Poll Watcher does this on behalf of the local Democratic Party or a Candidate Committee. This is not the same as a Poll Worker who is hired by the Supervisor of Elections to assist with the administration of the election, or a Poll Greeter who helps voters with questions outside the Polling Place.

The Florida Democratic Party will be conducting training sessions in July and we will have local training sessions closer to the election in early August.

If you have questions, please contact the Voter Protection Team by sending an email HERE.Thank you!
