Dear Pep Talkers...
We celebrated New York City this week on the podcast with two of the Big Apple’s newest residents, our sister Sheila Dolan and our niece Fiona Dolan. Sheila headed back to Manhattan after nearly two decades in Southern California to teach and be closer to her daughter Ruthie. Fiona is a new college grad who is living out her big city dream in a tiny apartment on the Lower East Side. Honestly, it was inspirational to talk to the two of them as they make this transition at very different times in their lives. Moving to New York is a commitment, a brave thing to do at any age.
My sons visited the City last week, their first trip together as grown-ups. I had nothing to do with the planning, but they managed to go to 4 museums, see a Broadway show, stroll through central Park, the Highline and Washington Square Park. They ate pizza, drank craft beers and went to The Strand Bookstore. They had breakfast with their Aunt Sheila and cocktails with their cousin Fiona. And my son Colin took a photo in front of Kleinfeld’s because he knows I love Say Yes to the Dress. My work is clearly done on the parenting front.
But all this NYC talk has made we want to book a ticket. And gauging by the reaction to the podcast, it’s made YOU want to book a ticket.
So let’s do it: Let’s go to New York.
Cheers!
Lian Dolan
