We're profiling some of Rhode Island's most historically significant State-owned properties.
The Rhode Island State House in Providence is the seat of State government and a magnificent example of American Renaissance architecture. The renowned architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White won a national competition to design Rhode Island's capitol building in 1892, and construction was completed in 1904.
Did you know there's an organization dedicated to its "restoration, preservation, interpretation, betterment and benefit?" Established in 1992 by Governor Bruce Sundlun, the Rhode Island State House Restoration Society has undertaken many important projects at the "most admirable" Rhode Island State House.
