Ribbon cutting event held for Ransdell LLC that houses LifeWorks at WKU
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday for the Julie and Gary Ransdell Living and Learning Community that houses LifeWorks at WKU. The event was held in partnership with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.

LifeWorks at WKU, a two-year residential program designed to support living, working and recreation for individuals on the autism spectrum who are 21 years of age and older, was established in 2019 solely through private support. A program within the Suzanne Vitale Clinical Education Complex (CEC) at WKU, LifeWorks welcomed its first group of participants in fall 2020.

“Through the Julie and Gary Ransdell Living and Learning Community, we recognize another step forward in our work to achieve two fundamentally critical components of our institution’s mission—transforming lives and elevating our community,” said WKU President Timothy C. Caboni at the event. “At WKU, it’s not only our responsibility to guide our Hilltoppers toward earning college degrees, it’s also our responsibility to guide those from our community and beyond whose support needs look a little different. And through this living and learning community, we engage students in an even more powerful and transformative experience.”

“This is a special moment for Julie and me,” WKU President Emeritus Gary A. Ransdell said. “We are honored to have our names on this facility because this program will pave the way for the future success of the participants. This speaks to what we can do as a university community to change the lives of those within our larger community.”
