ACADEMICS

Miss Nicollette and

Mrs. Nancy

This month has been a perfect blend of academic growth and fun, seasoned with the sweet truths of the wonderful Easter story!

Our oldest students are preparing for their 6th grade year by polishing writing skills, deepening comprehension skills, cementing problem-solving skills with fractions and decimals, and demonstrating their faith through loving leadership of their younger classmates. Younger students are developing strong computation skills, identifying shape attributes, previewing fractions with hands-on play, recognizing common spelling and grammar rules, showing an amazing love for God, and becoming absolutely voracious readers!!!

All of our young citizens are developing an understanding of our nation’s history. Younger students have interpreted and created maps and learned about their own position in the world, while older students have witnessed evidence of God's influence in our early American history. They have enjoyed watching how documents were crafted and amended to build the ideal opportunity for individual rights and success! We celebrate the freedoms of our country and all of the opportunities here!

As we wrap up this year, we celebrate the gelling of our community. Our veteran students have modeled such caring and love to our newer students and will pass that on to younger classmates as they graduate. Our vision for next year is full of promise! We will be busy this summer preparing units to build upon those taught this year, as well as team-building activities that will welcome new students into our circle and set them onto the path of strong faith and academic achievement! We love each student as our own, and dream big dreams about what they will accomplish in the future! Our safe little cocoon is the perfect spot for creative kids who are ready to soar into the future on wings of faith, on their own individual timeline of learning. It is also the perfect spot for two passionate teachers who are blessed to nurture, inspire, and pour God’s truth into each of our student's hearts. We believe it is a one-of-a-kind learning family that each of our students will always cherish as well!

Fun Friday

STEM

The students designed and built catapults and tested them with Easter eggs For our second project, we were “hanging with our peeps” we designed and built houses for marshmallow peeps! We used straws, toothpicks, and jellybeans, to build our houses! Check out the very short video!

Bible Study

Miss Nancy

During the weeks surrounding Easter, our Bible students were immersed in a study of the events of Holy Week. Through readings and skits, timelines and crafts, students learned how the events transpired and why each event is significant. They hunted for Resurrection eggs, each of which held a symbol of one of those events. Their faces mirrored the varied emotions we all feel when remembering the steps of Jesus the week before His crucifixion and resurrection: a tiny donkey, a miniature wine goblet, a little crown of thorns, and others that evoked such emotion as we read. So many recollections came to the front as we opened each of the dozen eggs. The final egg was an empty white egg, and they were joy-filled when the first student made the connection between that egg and the empty tomb! We loved witnessing the openness of their hearts, the desire they have to know more of Him, and their natural and complete love for God. It was such a perfect picture of why Jesus instructed adults to become like little children in their faith! We took a look at the disciples of Jesus and learned a song to remember their names. We played games and did quizzes involving a Bible search to learn specific traits about them. Older students created disciple collages, and our youngest students made pictures for their scrapbooks. Meeting the ordinary men Jesus chose is an inspiration to students, who recognize we are all image-bearers capable of telling others about Jesus.

We will go back to look at all of Jesus' ministry, looking at the miracles He performed, and playing games, singing songs and using Science activities to help us recall these events that were witnessed by so many, proving Jesus to be the Son of God.

This year, we, as teachers, have been thankful to be witnesses, too. To witness the joy and peace that occurs as students discover a new nugget of truth about Jesus is an incomparable blessing. To imagine our little students storing each little nugget away, building a full and complete picture of Jesus, and knowing that this will provide faith and strength, courage and joy, and a desire to live a life with purpose, is a great reward. We are thankful to be a part of each child's spiritual development, and to partner with each of your families as we help your kids to grow in faith and love. Looking to next year, we cannot wait to see how all of the seeds we have planted together this year have blossomed as we continue to nurture and nourish the faith growing in each of their hearts.

CENTRE STAGE

Music

Mr.Edgar's Piano and Music Class

with Mr. Jacob

It brings me great joy to share with you the progress of my group piano class. Over the past month, we have embarked on an exciting musical journey, mastering Vivaldi's Spring along with two other challenging pieces. Through hard work and perseverance, my students have not only learned music but also developed essential life skills such as patience and determination. I am thrilled to see the improvement in their reading skills and how they have excelled in a high school-level music theory test.

As a group, they have learned to listen to each other and play in harmony, honing their skills in a group setting. I am grateful for the privilege that God has given me, the privilege of teaching these exceptional human beings who are not only talented musicians but also kind-hearted individuals. It has been an honor to watch them grow and develop into the remarkable people they are today.

With God's guidance, I am excited for their bright future ahead, and I know that they will continue to achieve great things both in music and in life.

Voice

Miss Evana

In the month of April, in voice class we have been learning about the laryngeal skeleton! Learning vocal anatomy can help solve any vocal issues that may arise as we continue to explore our repertoire. All year, we have been working on a set of 10 songs that we will be performing as solos, duets, and ensembles at graduation that really showcases everything we have been working on in an applied format. Performing a solo takes a lot of time and coaching, so we have been tracking our progress using “vocal lesson reflection”s. This has been my favorite part of this class; sharing my favorite songs with this group and watching their love for music and performing flourish.

In my piano class, we have begun to explore the wonderful world of rhythm! We have officially learned all of our basic rhythm values; whole note, half note, dotted half note, and quarter note, and begun using them in our music. Now we can combine all of the knowledge we gained this year on fingering, letters, and now rhythm to play more advanced music and work towards our next piano party performance. This class has been so essential to my first year of teaching at this school, I could not have asked for a better group of kids to be my first class of little musicians. This upcoming performance will be an amazing way to showcase not only the talent they were blessed with but also all of the hard work they have been putting into their musical studies.

Dance

Miss Jackie's Ballet Class

with Mr. Nicholas

I cannot believe how much we got to do together this year. We have gotten physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger, done things we did not think we could, grown in areas that we did not know we needed to grow, overcame some fears, and shared in so many laughs with one another. When you look back at this school year, I hope that you see how far you have come, how much you have improved, and all the amazing things you have accomplished because of your love for dance and your will to always do your best. Never lose that!

I am honored to have had the chance to witness these things first hand and I look forward to continuing to support you on your dance journey. I want you to know that you are all uniquely wonderful and have equally taught me so much. Thank you for coming to the studio excited and ready to learn each day. It truly has been a pleasure. I hope to see you all this summer and again in the upcoming school year. We have SO many new and exciting things in store for you!!

I look forward to seeing you all on stage in our ALL JAZZED UP FOR SPRING dance recital. Let's finish this year strong!! :)

Musical

Theater/Tap

Miss Lyndsey

What an incredible school year 2022-2023 has been for my classroom in Musical Theater and Tap. The students have learned so much and they each teach me every day as well. I will miss the giggles, the singing, the fun and the focus we have shared all year but very excited for everyone to return for more giggles, singing, fun and focus in the 2023-2024 school year. I have so much I have already planned for my next year's curriculum. As I reflect on this past school year, I think of all we have learned together. The students enjoyed lessons on playwriting, costume design, set design and puppetry. The overall growth I have seen from all of the students is astonishing.

I have loved the camaraderie and commitment the students gave me and each other throughout the year.  This past school year in Tap Dancing we learned buffalos, bombershays, Shirley Temple and a few dance combos. We worked very hard on our Winter Recital dance, and I can not wait for these talented stars to take the stage for Spring Recital! Thank you for allowing me to teach your children the love I have for Musical Theater and Tap Dancing. Thank you for allowing your children to be part of this amazing school so that I could have the opportunity to be part of their dreams and journey in Performing Arts.

WELCOME MRS. KRISTEN!

We call her the queen of TAP DANCE! Mrs. Kristen will be working with your children for the rest of the school year and enjoying perfecting their Jazz and Tap skills! We are so lucky to have her part of our family.
