The CMS-0057-F final rule mandates significant plan investment in IT infrastructure. It calls for plan IT to support four types of information sharing along with a host of APIs and associated business processes. Whether return on this investment tops out at regulatory compliance or meaningfully drives the type of data liquidity needed to advance top strategic goals, such as reducing provider abrasion and advancing value-based care, hinges in large part on utilization among clinicians seeking prior authorization and care managers at both provider and plan organizations working to better coordinate care.

New WEDI Workgroup Product

The WEDI Dental SWG created a fact sheet that provides an overview of the key standards that guide information exchange in the dental industry. It highlights the regulations and guidelines set by standards organizations that help to maintain high levels of patient care and industry consistency.

As interoperability in healthcare increases, patient data is moving from organization to organization without direct patient consent and knowledge. This includes more sensitive demographic and social needs data that many patients may not want to be widely shared.

Agenda: The Provider Information Workgroup (PIW) is so excited to have your join us this week and in December to discuss the NSA TG and PIW combined session regarding the NSA HR 133 pertaining to provider directory data. We will be discussing what’s next and we would love for you to join us on the panel discussion and there are other ways to help out with the 2^nd session of 3 sessions.

The Emerging Technology Workgroup is back this week with a special guest!

Thursday November 21st, 3PM ET

Dr. Darryl Roberts will present a discussion of the use of AI/ML to solve simple, repetitive, and time-consuming problems. His examples include health insurance claims and coding analysis for appropriateness of billing, context analyses for clinician event reporting, and summarization of comment letters on proposed rules. In each case, he collaborated to design, build, test, and validate the solutions, assessing efficiency, effectiveness, and veracity; conducting drift analyses; and investigating the algorithms’ calculations to ensure he could explain their workings to clients using a technique he coined as “White Boxing”. Dr. Roberts will present during the first half and will follow with moderated discussion with attendees.
