SPRING 2023 | MAY 8, 2023
SPRING HAS ARRIVED!

Our days are filled with light much longer and nights are warmer allowing us to spend much more time outdoors. As we enter this time of year, we are excited to begin preparing our flower and shrubbery beds, trimming, mulching and manicuring the grounds. This too is an opportunity for residents, who enjoy getting their hands dirty, to prepare the raised planter beds and plant their favorite flowers, vegetables and herbs. For those who prefer not to cultivate the soil, this is a great opportunity to clean out our clutter and rearrange our homes. Doing these spring-cleaning projects, such as swapping out winter clothing for lighter options, brings an opportunity to donate to those less fortunate. If you have items you’d like to donate, please let me know and we will find the perfect charity for you.

Keep your eyes on your activity calendars for all the exciting events we have coming up. We will be planning many outdoor activities for all to enjoy. Wishing everyone a happy Spring and safe Summer!

Best wishes,

Executive Director
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
It’s hard to believe that we are already heading into May. Over the past couple of months, we have been busy welcoming our new residents to the Traditions at North Willow Family. Our community events and get-togethers continue to be fabulous with many of our residents and families in attendance! Let’s reflect on the past 3 months and see what has been going on inside our community. January, we celebrated the end of our Wii Bowling season with an award ceremony and banquet. Our North Willow Strikers team were named National Champions of 2022.
Next, our Chef Kyle and his awesome team created a delicious Valentine’s Day dessert bar for our residents and their families to enjoy. We enjoyed some tasty desserts, music, and photo opportunities that night. It was truly an evening filled with love and happiness. February was made a little sweeter with a delicious hot chocolate bar in our clubhouse for residents and our Mardi Gras day party with king cake, jambalaya, and lots of chocolate!
March has come and gone! We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day and our very own receptionist Donna Anderson’s book signing. Our St. Patrick’ Day event was filled with lots of green foods including mint chocolate chip milk shakes, green popcorn, and a rainbow fruit tray. We enjoyed our time over at the Villa Clubhouse honoring Donna and her new book called Til Death Do Us Part. We are so lucky to have such an amazing and authentic person here in our community! Wow! It has been a busy 3 months. We have cherished all the memories with our residents and families and can’t wait to make more memories as the weather warms up and activities start to move outside.
Plant your roots and come in and join us for one of our fun events happening soon! Living at Traditions at North Willow has so many perks, such as on-site Chef prepared meals from 7:00am-6:00pm daily, Happy Hour daily, maintenance-free living (so, no more yard work!), activities, friendly residents and staff and so much more. If you would like to learn more or take a tour, please click the button above or feel free to reach out to me directly at (317) 876.2916.

ACTIVITY SPOTLIGHT
At North Willow the 'Race to Summer' begins with Derby Day races, Mother’s Day teas, and our very own Indy 500 Fun Day!

May will be filled with crafts, games and foods to fit our themes....ever eat a 'spare tire'? We look forward to visits from Indy 500 Princesses and a chance to sit in an Indy 500 PACE CAR!
There will be plenty of 'fresh air’ activities too as the Garden Club plants the beds in the courtyard and we begin frequent 'Lunch-in-the-Park' outings.

We will end May with our traditional Memorial Service, honoring all who served, with special tributes to our very own veteran residents.

Coming soon: An Honor Wall, featuring photos of our veterans.

Happy Spring!

WINTER SAFETY TIPS
Warm weather is quickly approaching, and it is about time to switch our HVAC systems back to cooling. We will be around to replace the air filters in the villas, as well as clean the filters in the PTACs inside the main building. If you experience any issues with your system not cooling, please contact the front desk and we will work toward a resolution as quickly as possible. We have also been experiencing many of our smoke detector batteries going low and beeping. We will be replacing these batteries as quickly as possible.

We have reached tornado season for Indiana. If we are under a tornado watch, you should remain alert for approaching storms. This means the weather is favorable for tornado conditions. A tornado warning is an indication that a tornado has been detected on radar or been spotted in the area. When hearing this alert, you should seek shelter immediately. The best place during these conditions is on the lowest floor possible in a room without windows. It is wise to secure anything outside that could be damaged before the storm approaches.
