Finding the Right Provider
Mark was having great difficulty finding an appropriate therapist who truly understood him and his brain injury. He contacted his local provider and they told him he would be on a wait list for six months to a year. Mark was dismayed by this news, and began doing his best to find a good therapist on his own… unfortunately to no avail.
Mark called the BIAC Helpline. The BIAC Brain Injury Specialist (BIS) listened to his story and they discussed his needs. The BIS followed up by emailing Mark a list of providers in his area to contact, and indicated that if nothing worked out, to reach back out to the BIAC Helpline for additional resources. Mark called the providers on the list but hit more dead ends. Mark decided to take the BIS up on the offer to call back for more help, and the BIS was able to find additional resources for him.
Six months later, Mark attended the BIAC Annual Spring Social to meet the BIS in person, and to inform the BIS that he indeed found the help he was looking for! Mark had been working with a therapist who he felt really knew how to help him, and was truly grateful.

Thank you to Sarah Raskin and her student volunteers from the Trinity College Neuroscience Department for throwing the best Spring Social we can remember!
Over 100 attended, including survivors, family members, friends, caregivers, BIAC Board members, and staff. Pizza, arts & crafts, bingo, a special musical performance by support group leader, Gino LoRicco, and spirited dancing with The Flyy Movement was such a blast! Without our incredible community, events like this would not be possible. Something very special happens whenever we get together and we are truly grateful for our event organizers and everyone who attended! We can’t wait for next year’s event!
