FOUNDATIONS: WHO WE ARE

by Rev. David Wells, General Superintendent PAOC

PCCNA President

On May 14, 2024, I was humbled that in our biennial General Conference business meeting, I was elected to serve another four-year term as general superintendent of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). Susan and I are very grateful for our fellowship’s confidence and loving, prayerful support. In a future article, I will reiterate the areas of vision I continue to share with our various leadership groups within the PAOC.

In this article, I share from a clear conviction that we need to keep foundational things clear. As an experienced coach understands, at times we need to go back to the beginning and reinforce the basics that make us who we are meant to be.

Back to the Beginning

During the seasons of life, we experience times when one is reminded to get back to basics and to do the main things well. This can range from challenging times in relationships with family or friends to performance struggles such as the ones athletes and others experience during their careers.

For those who live their lives to glorify God, we share a starting point that assists us in aligning all we are and what we do. It involves going back to the “Book of Beginnings.” “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”[1] “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”[2]

RACE RELATIONS COMMISSION

by Aaron Campbell

PCCNA Race Relations Commission Chair

With the flood of violence rising in our cities, God is calling on his people to assemble The A.R.K. (Ambassadors Restoring Kindness). After many months of strategizing and intense research, we have assembled an awesome team of community experts in the fields of Public Safety, Community Mental Health, and Emergency Management. With great excitement and anticipation, we unveil the PCCNA Race Relations Commission's Youth CERT MID-SOUTH initiative as a cornerstone of our Youth Violence Reduction Initiative. In a world where the specter of violence looms large over our youth, we have embarked on a transformative journey to address the root causes of conflict and empower our young people to become proactive agents of change.

At the heart of our strategy, lies a deep commitment to reducing the fear and vulnerabilities that often give rise to violent behaviors among our youth. By equipping them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills, we aim to foster a sense of empowerment and resilience that will enable them to navigate the challenges they face and make positive contributions to their communities.

The Youth CERT MID-SOUTH program serves as a vital platform through which our youth can gain certification in emergency response, arming them with the capabilities to effectively respond to crises and emergencies in their neighborhoods. Through this program, we seek to instill a sense of responsibility and preparedness in our youth, empowering them to take proactive steps toward building safer and more resilient communities.

We call upon the global community to join us in this important endeavor by supporting our initiative and encouraging youth participation in the Youth CERT MID-SOUTH program. By rallying together and championing the cause of youth empowerment and violence reduction, we can create a ripple effect of positive change that will resonate across borders and generations.

The benefits of this initiative extend far beyond the individual participants, encompassing the entire community. By witnessing our youth take intentional action in developing and implementing emergency response plans, we can foster a culture of collaboration, unity, and preparedness that transcends barriers and unites us for a common purpose.

Together, let us stand united in our commitment to empowering our youth and building a brighter, safer future for all. Join us in supporting the PCCNA Race Relations Commission's Youth CERT MID-SOUTH initiative and be a part of the transformative change we seek to bring about.

MISSION TRIP REPORT

AUGUST 12–19, 2024

by Caleb Brown

PCCNA NextGen Commission Chair

Team: Pastor Mark Cooper, Illinois, USA; Pastor Njugush Waiguru, Nairobi, Kenya; Pastor Camilo Andrade, Bogota, Colombia; Pastor Eric Newberry, Tennessee, USA; Pastor Ethan Patterson, Texas, USA; and Pastor Caleb Brown, PCCNA NextGen Chair.

Overview

Our recent mission trip to Madagascar was a resounding success, marked by powerful spiritual encounters, transformative training sessions, and a vibrant exchange of cultures and faith. During the course of four days and nights, our team of six NextGen leaders, representing five denominations and three countries (Colombia, Kenya, and the USA), witnessed the Holy Spirit move in extraordinary ways.

Training and Empowerment

A central focus of our trip was the training and empowerment of local pastors and young leaders. More than 50 pastors participated in intensive training sessions, equipping them with practical tools and fresh insights to strengthen their ministries. Simultaneously, more than 200 young leaders from NextGen ministries were ignited with passion and purpose through dynamic teachings and activations. The impact of these sessions was palpable, as participants expressed a renewed sense of calling and a deeper commitment to serving their communities.
