You can help our youth score a victory in this weekend’s Souper Bowl of Caring!

During Coffee Hour this Sunday, the youth will be collecting cans of soup and other nonperishable food items in addition to monetary contributions for the Souper Bowl of Caring—a national grassroots, faith-based campaign against hunger.

All proceeds collected by our youth will support our Fourth Church Meals Ministry Bag Lunches and Sunday and Monday Night Suppers as well as the food pantry of our Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center.

So come to church this Sunday, February 3 ready to fill the youth’s large soup pots with canned goods and contributions that will help us tackle hunger in our community!
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation will be held next Sunday, February 10 following the 11:00 a.m. service. As part of that meeting, the congregation will elect new officers. The slate of candidates that will be presented by the Nominating Committee is posted online.

There will also be remarks reflecting on the previous year and looking ahead to the year to come as well as an opportunity to recognize our Facility and Security staff (shown above) for all they do as part of the mission and ministry of this congregation.

All members are encouraged to attend the annual meeting in order to take part in this important activity in the life of Fourth Church!

Join us this Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. as we kick off “Conversations with Clergy,” an informal time of story sharing and discussion on the first Sunday of the month. The Jazz at Four pastors will be sharing stories about significant turning points in their life of faith, and attendees will also be invited to reflect on and contribute their own related stories.

Nanette Sawyer will be leading our first conversation—“A Time of Awakening”—as she reflects this Sunday on coming back to the church and embracing it as an adult. About her transformation she says, “I came to be a Christian not because I ‘did the work’ of believing, but because I allowed myself to be welcomed and loved and supported by a community of Christians.”

Afterwards we will worship together in Buchanan Chapel as we share in Jazz at Four and continue our sermon series “Who Is Jesus?”
