SOFKIN Thanks SIGMA, Siddharth and Mala Bhattacharji
SOFKIN, or Support Organization for Kids in Need, is a non-profit based in New Jersey and India that supports the upbringing of underprivileged children. The agency provides welcoming homes for children, including food, clothing, education, medicine, and the nurturing care of housemothers, who themselves are fleeing domestic abuse. Currently, SOFKIN supports over 90 children in 5 homes in Pune and Hyderabad, India.
Raju Kakani, SIGMA Vice President of Information Technology, is a long-standing board member of SOFKIN. He introduced Siddharth Bhattacharji and his late wife Mala to the organization. The Bhattacharjis became generous supporters of SOFKIN, bringing SIGMA in as a corporate sponsor, and sharing the organization’s mission with friends, family and colleagues. They, along with Victor and Alina Pais, helped SOFKIN build two new homes, one each for boys and girls.
SOFKIN Director Chaya Pamula comments, “The Battacharjis have always found time to hear about the children’s activities and accomplishments with joy and enthusiasm. It is so touching that these wonderful, down-to-earth people made our organization part of our lives. Siddharth is a trusted and treasured board member and everyone misses Mala; we keep her in our hearts and prayers.”

Personnel News: Retirement, Promotion, New Hires
SIGMA Corporation congratulates the Southeast Region’s beloved CSR Gloria Lamborne as she retires after 44 years in the industry, first at Russell Pipe, and then at SIGMA. Known for her excellent customer relationships, her warmth, and her patience, she leaves behind some big shoes to fill, but true to form, Gloria spent the last month of her tenure training her replacement to ensure a smooth transition.
Jessica Gandy will step into Gloria’s shoes. No stranger to SIGMA, Jessica has been a member of the team for 9 years, filling many key roles including reception, inventory, shipping, and receiving. Her broad-based experience will serve her well as she moves into the new position, and this will benefit customers, always our top priority.
We also send a warm SIGMA welcome to two new employees in the Northeast Region, Zonaira (Zoey) Malik, and Yolanda Trippiedi.
Zoey joined the IT team in May as our new Support Analyst. Her responsibilities include supporting SIGMA users with all IT related issues, network administration, working with service providers, opening and following up on detailed support cases, assisting with training and system administration, supporting phones, tablets, and remote devices. Zoey comes to us with more than seven years of experience in IT with previous jobs at Bank of America, PA, and IEEE in NJ.
Yolanda Trippiedi, Accounts Receivable Specialist, joined SIGMA’s Banking, Finance, and Accounting team in May. She brings 30 years of accounts receivable experience to SIGMA, having worked for companies in Manhattan and NJ that include the construction, concrete, payroll, and workers’ compensation sectors. She approaches her job with a strong customer focus, recognizing that in accounts receivable, there are often issues and challenges. Yolanda prioritizes making the customer comfortable, and figuring out manageable strategies to resolve matters respectfully and efficiently.
We wish Gloria a happy, restful, and well-earned retirement. We congratulate Jessica, Zoey, and Yolanda on their new positions, and wish them much success.

From the Western Canada Region:
Retired Territory Sales Manager Rob Mathews is staying busy these days! Together with his sister and two granddaughters, Addison and Brooklyn, Rob is training a guide dog named Jax. The family came together with this plan to honor Rob’s mother, Thelma Matthews, who passed away from COVID early last year at the age of 93. Mrs. Matthews wished to sponsor an assistance or guide dog, and her family is carrying out her wish in her memory. The family is working with the organization PADS http://pads.ca/ to train Jax, and is proud to know that Mrs. Mathew’s commitment to service and helping others will live on.

In Memoriam: Steve McDonald, 1959-2022
It is with great sadness that SIGMA bids farewell to Steve McDonald, a beloved member of the SIGMA family for the past 25 years. Steve joined SIGMA in 1997 as our National Pipe Restraint Product Manager, and spearheaded a massive sales effort that culminated with SIGMA becoming the unquestioned market leader in pipe restraint sales. Steve was an expert in the field and was passionate about educating customers and colleagues about pipe restraint technology. Within SIGMA, Steve represented the heart of the company. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, he worked his way across time zones as he connected with everyone within our team –salesmen, engineers, CSRs and supply chain associates. Steve knew, supported and, most importantly, cared for the people in the Company.
In addition to his professional stature, Steve was known for his great sense of humor, kindness, and infectious smile. He leaves behind the love of his life, Kat Jordan, her son Alex, daughter-in-law Lindsey and two granddaughters, Riley and Raegan. Steve will be sorely missed.
