Themes and Celebration
This Sunday we will continue our sermon series on Jeremiah, “A Prophet of Loss and Hope,” with a focus this week on Jeremiah 29:1, 4–14.

This Sunday is also Baccalaureate Sunday at Fourth Church, when we recognize members and Chicago Lights Tutoring students who are graduating in 2021 from eighth grade, high school, college, or graduate and professional programs.

Throughout Pride Month, the Pride flag sign and rainbow ribbons outside the Michigan Avenue courtyard bear public witness to the inclusive hospitality we extend to all and to our welcome of all of God’s children into the life of the church.

The Farmstand opens this week!

Each Friday afternoon through the end of October the Farmstand at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm will be selling a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

Your purchasing fresh produce at the Farmstand directly supports Chicago Lights job-training programs, as students and young adults gain job skills through urban farming, skills that set them up for success as they pursue fulfilling careers.

Fridays
1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm
444 W. Chicago Ave.

Guests are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing while at the Farm.
We are grateful to all who have made gifts in support of our mission and ministry this year. Thank you! This monthly generosity report summarizes those contributions to Fourth Church as of May 31, 2021.
Together with interfaith partners we are planning a trip to Israel, Palestine, and Jordan for a year from now, June 2022.

Registration is open through this September 1, 2021, for those interested in joining us for “Peace and Compassion: A Music and Travel Seminar Trip to the Middle East,” an opportunity to share the gift of music, to learn about daily life in the Middle East, and to build community among ourselves and all we encounter.

To register or to learn more about fees, travel arrangements, and other logistics, contact John Sherer or Nanette Sawyer.
God never intended that we struggle through life’s crises alone. For one-to-one spiritual and emotional support through difficult times, be it death, loss, illness, financial insecurity, pandemic fatigue, or other life challenges, we encourage you to consider being paired with one of our congregation’s trained and caring Stephen Ministers.

To request a match with a Stephen Minister or to learn more about this opportunity, contact David Handley, Interim Minister for Caring Ministries, or leave a confidential message for a Stephen Minister at 312.573.3365.

As many of us are looking for healthy ways to cope with stresses or anxiety, frustration or anger, uncertainty or grief, the staff of our Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being is also available to offer suggestions and support through phone appointments or teletherapy, whether for just a few sessions or on an ongoing basis.

To set up a time to talk or for more information about how the Center can be a resource for you, call the Center at 312.787.2729, ext. 2260.

Additionally, if you would like to talk to a pastor, please call the church (312.787.4570) and your request will be forwarded to someone on the pastoral staff.
Each Sunday immediately following worship our virtual Coffee Hour offers opportunity to connect with familiar friends or meet new people via Zoom.

We hope you will take a few moments to join us online for this casual time of Sunday fellowship and conversation!
