Council holds first reading on FY 23 budget, tax rate
The Round Rock City Council voted 7-0 Thursday, Aug. 25, on first reading to approve a $555.5 million budget and tax rate of 34.2 cents per $100 of valuation for fiscal year 2023, which begins Oct. 1. A second reading and vote on both items will take place at the Sept. 8 City Council meeting. 

New utility billing system to launch Aug. 29
The City of Round Rock will implement a new utility billing payment system starting Monday, Aug. 29, that will accept new payment methods, including American Express, Discover, PayPal, eCheck and Walmart Pay. If you are an auto-pay customer, you MUST re-register your account online starting Aug. 29.

Library launches more digital lending options
Digital streaming service hoopla Digital is now available at the Round Rock Public Library. Borrow and enjoy audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies, TV, magazines, or music everywhere you have a screen—your computer, your phone, your car, even your TV.

Report: Round Rock to grow by 75,000 in 20 years
The City of Round Rock has released 2020-2040 population projections, which estimate that Round Rock’s population will grow by almost 75,000 people. The projections include the population for city limits and Round Rock’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Labor Day Concert

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy this fun and free concert on the lawn provided by the AFM of Austin. Face painting, balloons and food trucks will be available. This event is free and will feature the Blues Crawlers and Classic Hiphop Live.

Memorial Tower Climb
Saturday, Sept. 10
7:15 a.m.
Public Safety Training Center, 2801 N. Mays St.

The public is invited to attend the Round Rock Fire Department’s annual 9/11 memorial tower climb. There will also be a 5K walk for those that do not wish to climb the tower. Participants must arrive by 7:15 a.m. and the climb will begin at 7:45 a.m.

Green Thumbs Up

The Williamson County Texas Master Gardener Association, a volunteer organization of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, will feature a class by Master Gardener Wayne Rhoden on how to build a raised garden bed as part of its monthly gardening program, Green Thumbs Up.

Public Safety Day
Saturday, Sept. 24

Join Round Rock Police, Fire and Williamson County EMS for a chance to meet local first responders and see the vehicles and equipment they use to respond to local emergencies. This free family event provides a chance to check out public safety equipment and vehicles and a live vehicle extraction.

The Green Show Concert

Celebrate the Library’s Plant Wildflowers grant with a Laura Freeman concert! Bring the family for a kid-friendly concert about living in harmony with our bees, butterflies, pollinators and the natural world. Choose a show at 4:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. This activity is best enjoyed by kids ages 3-10.

Come spend the night in Old Settlers Park! You’ll pop your tent around the Lakeview Pavilion, eat dinner, have fun, play games, sit around the campfire eating s’mores, watch a movie in the park and fall sleep under the stars before enjoying the sunrise and breakfast. Registration is required.

Memory Cafe

The Round Rock Public Library Memory Cafe meets from 2 to 3 p.m. once a month on Mondays. Join us for coffee, conversations and activities in a welcoming place for individuals and families living with memory changes. This social gathering is intended for older adults living with mild changes in cognition or memory, and a care partner. This is not a drop-off event.
