Marking the 2015 Organ Dedication
|
Two years ago, on Sunday, November 22, 2015, we dedicated our new Andrew Pipe Organ Soli Deo Gloria--to the glory of God--and used it lead us in joyful worship for the first time.
Tonight we will commemorate the second anniversary of that dedication and celebrate the musical gifts we have enjoyed since then because of this wonderful instrument.
Come hear organist Jan Kraybill present an anniversary concert featuring works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Holst, and Stanford as well as transcriptions of compositions by Brubeck and Saint-Saëns.
A freewill offering will be received at the door.

A special Thanksgiving Day worship service will be held in the Sanctuary this coming Thursday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m., with Vicky Curtiss and Kent Organ, her husband and also a PCUSA pastor, preaching.
Following the service, a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which offers opportunity to renew old acquaintances and make new friends in the spirit of giving thanks, will be served at 12:15 p.m. in Anderson Hall.
Prepaid reservations are required for this traditional dinner. Reservations can be made online (through Monday, November 20) or by contacting Anne Ellis.

Please note, however, that the discounted rate will not be the Sunday morning rate but will be the $17 holiday rate set by the garage. Christmas Wishes and Holiday Bags
|
Sharing with Those in Need
|
This weekend we will kick off our annual Christmas Wishes and Holiday Bags projects.
During Coffee Hour we will have information available about these two opportunities to share Christmas joy with others.
The "Christmas Wishes" gift project--coordinated by Women at Fourth--collects gifts for Chicago Lights Tutoring students who might not otherwise receive them. Wish lists for each student are available during Coffee Hour or by contacting Anne Ellis. Volunteers are also needed to help inventory and wrap gifts, which will be given at the Tutoring holiday party.
Holiday Bags--which are being collected by Fourth Church Meals Ministry--are given to guests of Sunday Night and Monday Night Suppers. A list of needed items and bags to decorate are available at the Meals Ministry cart during Coffee Hour. Decorated bags and gift items are to be returned to the cart by Sunday, December 10 for distribution at the following week's holiday suppers for our guests.

Five Years in the Gratz Center
|
Giving Thanks for All It Has Made Possible
|
Five years ago this weekend, on Sunday, November 18, 2012, we dedicated the Gratz Center and prepared to begin using its classrooms for the first time the following week!
We remain profoundly grateful to all whose generous gifts made building the Gratz Center possible and to all whose offerings of time and talent fill the space with vibrant expressions of a church alive in mission and ministry, embodying our call to love and serve. Thank you!
(You can take a look back at that special day in our photo album from that dedication day.)
