Earth Hour is this Saturday, March 30, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., a time when Fourth Church will join others around the world in turning off nonessential lighting as an expression of our commitment to care for God’s creation.

Those who would like to explore additional ways to express our stewardship of the earth are invited to join the Care of Creation Committee for conversation on Sunday, April 7 at 12:30 p.m. in Room 4E.

This April our trees outside the Manse will again be adorned with blue ribbons to raise awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.

However to create this powerful public witness to the tragedy of child abuse, we need your help.

This Sunday, please take a minute to tie a blue bow to the rope that will be in the Commons. That rope will then be incorporated into the blue bows display outside.

On Tuesday, we would also appreciate help tying bows to the trees beginning at 10:00 a.m. Prior to that, we will be hosting a Blue Bows interfaith prayer service at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary, to which all are also invited.

For more information or to sign up to help on Tuesday, please contact Anne Ellis.

Bearing Witness: The Trauma of Sexual Violence and Caring for Survivors
Sundays, March 31–April 14
9:30 a.m.
in Room 5E

Beginning this Sunday, Elizabeth Pierre, assistant professor of pastoral care and counseling and counseling psychology at North Park University, will lead us in cultivating an understanding of the trauma of sexual violence and its impact on one’s body, mind, and faith.

We will look, in particular, at the socio-cultural factors such as race, class, gender, and religion that are integral to responding effectively and empathically to survivors.

“Dying to Know” Series: Being Mortal
Wednesdays, April 3, May 22, June 19
2:30–4:30 p.m.

Join us for workshops created to take away the stigma of talking about death and dying. We will also work together to develop a sense of being in charge of our lives until the end.

Our monthly topics will help us focus on “Being Mortal,” “How to Share Your Health Care Wishes,” and “Candid Conversations.”

Register online for one or more of these sessions cohosted by the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being, the Center for Life and Learning, Skyline Village, and the National Council of Jewish Women: Chicago North Shore Section.

Remember loved ones and recognize those who are special in your life with contributions toward the purchase of flowers to decorate the Sanctuary for Easter.

A list of those remembered will be printed in the Easter Sunday bulletin.

Contributions must be received by next Sunday, April 7 in order for names to be included in the bulletin.

You are invited to Easter brunch!

Come join Fourth Church families and individuals, members and friends, for this time of celebration and fellowship on Sunday, April 21 following the 11:30 a.m. Easter service.

Our brunch menu that day will include sliced ham, crisp bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, fresh fruit, waffles and syrup, Danish, orange juice, coffee, tea, and milk.

Space is limited and tickets are required, so why not reserve your place at the table now!
