Advent and Christmas Flowers
Fair Trade Bazaar Next Weekend!
Remembering and Honoring Loved Ones
This season there is again special opportunity to memorialize or honor loved ones through donations for the Advent and Christmas flowers and garlands that will decorate Fourth Church. Contributions are being received now through Sunday, December 10.
 
Names of those remembered through Advent and Christmas flower donations will be printed in the Christmas worship bulletin. Contributions can be made by completing the Christmas flowers form available in the literature racks or online at www.bit.ly/FPCgifts
 
Forms must be received by December 10 for names to appear in the Christmas worship bulletin.

Plan to stop by the Fair Trade Gift Bazaar next Saturday, December 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or Sunday, December 3 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Anderson Hall and Borwell Dining Room.
 
This annual bazaar features handcrafted merchandise, ranging from folk art to ceramics, textiles, baskets, jewelry, and more, and a variety of vendors, including Ten Thousand Villages, will be on hand.
 
Groups in more than forty countries benefit from the proceeds of this bazaar, making it possible for them to earn a fair wage for their labors and provide food, shelter, education, and health care for their families.

Presented in Memory of David Donovan
In recent years we have been honored to host the finale concert of the annual Civic Orchestra Bach Marathon, during which celebrated cellist Yo-Yo Ma has appeared as a guest performer.  
 
This coming Thursday we are honored to again host the marathon's free concluding concert of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, which will be dedicated to the memory of our former Associate Pastor David Donovan.

A Seasonal Favorite Offered on Two Nights
Back by popular demand, the Grammy-award-winning a cappella group Chanticleer--known around the world as "an orchestra of voices"--will again be bringing "A Chanticleer Christmas" to the Sanctuary this season.

Run to Support Chicago Lights
We are looking for runners to join our 2018 Chicago Lights Marathon Team!
 
We'll again be running the Chicago Marathon--on Sunday, October 7, 2018--in support of Fourth Church's nonprofit community outreach organization, Chicago Lights and its programs: Tutoring, Summer Day, Dance Academy, Urban Farm, and the Elam Davies Social Service Center.
 
Those interested in joining the Marathon Team and helping to raise funds for Chicago Lights are asked to contact Kate Solis Silva by this coming Wednesday, November 29.

Do you create art you'd be willing to share with fellow members and friends of Fourth Church and visitors to our Loggia Gallery?

In January we will be showcasing in the Loggia some of the artistic talents of our congregation. If you would like to submit artwork, please contact Rob Koon for a copy of the guidelines.

This coming Thursday, November 30 is the deadline for submissions: only two-dimensional work, please (drawings, paintings, collage, and photography).

There are several ways to get involved in the mission and ministry of Fourth Church. See below for just some of the details!

Current Volunteer Needs
Individuals to help with the Fair Trade Bazaar setup and takedown on Friday, December 1 and Sunday, December 3; for details, email Nancy Davis 
 
Individuals to staff the Book Nook during 12:00 p.m. Sunday Coffee Hour 
 

Current Donation Needs
Individually packaged snack items (5,000 per month) for Fourth Church Meals Ministry bag lunches and Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center emergency snack packs
 
Men's clothing (all sizes) for guests of the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center
 
Large paper grocery bags for use in the Social Service Center Food Pantry (four grocery bags are needed for every guest who visits the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center Food Pantry)
