CMHA and FHCRR Selected for HUD's New
Housing Choice Voucher Mobility Demonstration
|
|
In May, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) was selected as one of nine organizations chosen to participate in HUD's new six-year Housing Choice Voucher Mobility Demonstration.
HUD’s objective for this demonstration is for Public Housing Authorities to provide families with children better access to low-poverty neighborhoods with high-performing schools and other strong community resources. Participating regions represent diverse housing markets, population sizes, local laws regarding source-of-income nondiscrimination, and experiences implementing housing mobility programs.
CMHA was awarded funding for voucher assistance and mobility related services valued at nearly $5,000,000. CMHA will collaborate with the Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research (FHC) to provide mobility counseling and other related services to eligible families with children. The services provided by FHC will ensure that participating families are supported before, during, and after their moves to opportunity areas.
