Plans are underway to celebrate Manufacturing Day with an event on Friday, October 7, at Bay West. Ninth-grade students from area high schools will learn about career opportunities and in-demand skill sets through a series of hands-on activities presented by representatives from Billerud, BOSS Snowplow, CCI Systems, Grede, Loadmaster, Systems Control, and Trident Maritime Systems.

Input Requested: County Planning Survey
The Dickinson County Planning Commission is again seeking citizen input through the 2022 Master Plan Survey that will contribute to the long-term planning efforts of the county. Those that live and/or work in Dickinson County are encouraged to participate. The survey is available until September 15. The county completed the last survey in 2018, and this refresh will help inform future growth and development plans.

The Bay West Leadership Academy (BWLA) brings together emerging leaders from the area to develop meaningful skills, grow a professional network, become more aware of Dickinson County and learn how to get involved. The program is for those interested in developing leadership skills and community involvement.
The program includes eight workshops running from October 2022 through June 2023. Each workshop is three hours in length and centered on key learning outcomes. The Alliance and the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce will co-host a series of Michigan Small Business Development Center workshops throughout September – December. The first session is titled Legal Structures and Setup for Your Small Business and will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 8:30 a.m. CT. The session speaker is Lance Wolfe, SBDC Consultant, who will help you understand which legal structure best serves your small business. This session is offered online only. Register here.
