"The Music and Meaning of Advent" Far more than counting down the shopping days until Christmas, Advent invites us to celebrate the coming of Christmas, especially with music. Join us Wednesday evening, December 11 for "The Music and Meaning of Advent," a special intergenerational program hosted by the Academy for Faith and Life together with Children and Family Ministry. The evening will start with a festive reception and fellowship in Allison Hall and Library of the Gratz Center. Children will enjoy a meal and their own program with Minister for Children and Families Matt Helms in the Bumpus Room. A program for adults will start at 6:00 p.m. in Buchanan Chapel. Jeanne Bishop, Associate Pastor Adam Fronczek, and Organist and Director of Music John Sherer will lead a musical fanfare of great holiday hymns, sharing history, theology, and their personal stories. Towards the end of the evening, adults and children will raise voices together in a merry sing-along. Nursery care will be available for children two and under. During our festive evening of music we also want to remember those in need this season. We encourage everyone attending "The Music and Meaning of Advent" to bring a food or clothing item(s) for donation to the Consumer Choice Food Pantry or the Share Shop of the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center. The Social Service Center is looking, in particular, for holiday and ready-to-eat food items as well as winter clothing items, including winter coats, for our guests experiencing homelessness. RSVPs are appreciated--to help facilitate planning for childcare and food and beverages--and can be done online or with Ryan Loeckel. Time and place Wednesday, December 11 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Bumpus Room and Buchanan Chapel To RSVP RSVP online Or with Ryan Loeckel back to top
