Three NEW Kindergarten Classrooms Under Construction!
Bondeau's Highest Urgent Priority Being Met!
We are so excited to share that the kindergarten building construction is underway!

The contractor is working hard for it to be open when school starts in the Fall this year. This project was identified by the Bondeau community leaders as their #1 “Priority of Priorities”.

The project’s initial funding of $65,000 has been provided by three sources:
  1. A generous individual donor seeding the project;
  2. Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and School in Tequesta as their Lenten Project this past spring;
  3. Donations made in the wake of the earthquake that damaged the existing kindergarten classrooms last year.

A grant application was also submitted for a portion of the project cost and is still awaiting approval. As is happening all over the world, there has already been some increased costs as a result of the construction material inflation that continues to impact us all.

If you would like to help with the approximately $13,000 (about 20%) increased material costs, please donate.
Food Packing Shipment Delivered in Risky Cover of Darkness Out of Desperation
After months of waiting for the 75,000 meals packed at the Food Packing in February, Bondeau priest (Pere Phanord) paid courageous drivers to pick up the 347 boxes in Port-Au-Prince. The boxes had been shipped and safely stored by Food for the Poor waiting the voilence to subside for safe transport to Bondeau a 3-hour drive.
With no stability in sight, Pere Phanord hired 3 van drivers to deliver the food boxes. Taking a route through the mountains and armed with money to pay the gangs to pass safely on the road and in the cover of darkness, they arrived in Bondeau on May 30.
The gang violence and control continues to rule all movement in and out of Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas. This situation is causing food scarcity as well as scarcity of all supplies of every kind. Any food or supplies that are getting through are very high priced and extremely limited. The situation has even escalated more since April.
The people of Haiti are suffering and desperately needs our prayers. This continued unrest and surging violence affects all aspects of life their safety, economy, food supply, ability to be on the roads, and peace of mind. Learn more here...
Bondeau Celebrated
Bon Samaritan Feast Day

In the midst of so much challenge, the Bondeau community celebrated their Feast Day with deep faith and hope bringing the gift of great joy.

Each year on the second Sunday in July, the Bible reading features the story of the Good Samaritan (Bon Samaritan). Our partners in Bondeau chose to name their church after this person who shared God's love and care with another in need. In Haiti, it is a tradition to celebrate (have a Feast Day) to honor what or for who their church is named.
On July 10, the entire community of Bondeau along with many visiting priests and guests, celebrated with a special service and community meal following. This joyful, festive time is especially meaningful this year after so many challenges that happened (the earthquake, Covid-19) and the ongoing challenges of their country's instability that have escalated.
