Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

September 2, 2022

Dear Roslyn Families,

I’m very excited to share with you the launch of the high school’s brand new Financial Research Lab and Trading Floor. The new lab will provide students, who have aspirations to earn a finance-related degree, a competitive edge as they apply for college.

Completed over the summer, the state of the art room is equipped with 24 student terminals featuring Bloomberg software and an interactive Market Wall. The software platform provides real-time and historical data and analytics, used globally to analyze financial market data and place trades. The Market Wall is a digital wall that provides the latest stocks and bonds information, indices, currencies, and business news.

With our rapidly changing economy and geo-political climate, our high school business and finance students need every advantage they can get, and this course will extend students’ knowledge of financial markets. The lab will allow students to learn the software programs that drive the financial marketplace, provide them with a hands-on learning experience, and enable them to create well-developed Equity Portfolios.

Classes will participate in the Bloomberg Trading Challenge, a collaborative project where teams of 3-5 students will develop a strategy and execute trades to achieve the highest profit against their competitors. Students will also have the opportunity to earn a Bloomberg Market Concepts certification through a standardized examination provided by Bloomberg.

The room is spectacular and I invite you to see it by clicking HERE. Clicking directly on the video with your mouse will allow you to customize a 360° view of the space. I’ve also included some photos of the space below.

This project is the culmination of many years of intensive collaborative work by the Roslyn Board of Education who believe passionately in providing our students with competitive skills. I hope that you will encourage your children to take advantage of this wonderful financial lab during their tenure at Roslyn School District.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
