Principal's Update: Schedules and Open House

Greetings CMS Families,

Today at 4:00, you will have access to your student’s daily schedule. As you may have read in our back to school communication or handbook; our schedule will look different this year. Over the last few years we have noticed an increased need for social/emotional learning among students, and have listened to parent/guardian feedback about ways we can make a large school feel smaller.

To build student belonging and stronger student/staff relationships, students will start their day with an Advisor class. Through a program called Character Strong, all CMS students will have daily lessons focused on social/emotional learning competencies and character development. Additionally, the Advisor teacher will provide consistency for your student, as they will have this teacher throughout the school year.

We are thrilled to begin the upcoming school year and look forward to seeing you in the coming days.

6th Grade Open House: Thursday, September 1st from 4:00-8:00 pm

7th Grade Open House: Tuesday, August 30 from 4:00-8:00 pm

8th Grade Open House: Thursday, August 25 from 4:00-8:00 pm

At Open House students will have the opportunity to:

• Meet our administrative staff
• Walk their schedule to find their classes
• Explore CMS
• Place supplies in their locker
• Have their picture taken (for ID and Yearbook)
• Learn about student activities
• Review handbook changes
• Order a school supply package

*New students also will receive their school-issued iPad at Open House.

*Please note, if you are unable to attend your grade level Open House you may attend an alternate Open House event.
