Next Friday, November 17 Jan Kraybill will be in concert to commemorate the second anniversary of the installation of our Andrew Pipe Organ.
 
Come enjoy works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Holst, and Stanford as well as transcriptions of compositions by Brubeck and Saint-Saëns.
 
A freewill offering will be received at the door.

A Documentary Viewing This Sunday
The Care of Creation Committee invites you to a screening of Tapped this Sunday, November 12 following 11:00 worship.

This documentary examines the role of the bottled water industry and its effects on our health, climate change, pollution, and our reliance on oil.

Join Us on the Sanctuary Steps
Usher in the holiday season with caroling next Saturday, November 18 on the Sanctuary steps!
 
Join us at 5:00 p.m. that day when Fourth Church choirs will lead us in singing carols as a part of the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. We will sing on the church steps on Michigan Avenue outside of the Sanctuary for about an hour while enjoying the parade and other holiday festivities.
 
All are invited and are encouraged to bring family and friends!

Celebrate the Day with Fourth Church Family
Following our annual Thanksgiving Day service of worship, our Congregational Life Committee will be hosting a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which offers opportunity to renew old acquaintances and make new friends in the spirit of giving thanks.
 
Tickets are required for this dinner in Anderson Hall and are available online or by contacting Anne Ellis.

Interfaith and Thanksgiving Day Services
We will once again have opportunity to worship with our partners in faith this Thanksgiving season as we gather on Tuesday, November 21 to express our gratitude through word and song.
 
The annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will begin that Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Chicago Sinai Congregation. Nanette Sawyer will preach, as we join in thanksgiving with neighbors and our partners in faith: Chicago Sinai Congregation, Downtown Islamic Center, Fourth Presbyterian Church, Holy Name Cathedral, LaSalle Street Church, and St. James Cathedral. 
 
Then on Thanksgiving Day, November 23 there will be opportunity for worship at Fourth Church at 11:00 a.m. Our annual Thanksgiving worship service will be held in the Sanctuary, with Vicky Curtiss and Kent Organ preaching.

Celebrating Christmas Eve on a Sunday  
This year Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, so our worship schedule will be a bit different than it was last year.
 
We will have only one morning worship service on Sunday, December 24: at 11:00 a.m.
 
There will be no 8:00 or 9:30 a.m. worship services on Sunday, December 24. 
 
In the afternoon and evening we will have four Christmas Eve services, all with candlelight and some at slightly different times than last year. This year we will gather at
 
   4:00 p.m. -- Children's Pageant
   6:00 p.m. -- Family Service with Jazz
   8:00 p.m. -- Lessons and Carols
   10:00 p.m. -- Lessons and Carols 

We look forward to joining together in worship on Christmas Eve Sunday!
membersA Pilgrimage to Ghost Ranch
A 2018 Spiritual Formation Offering 
Our Spiritual Formation Council has planned a spiritual pilgrimage to Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, for the new year.
 
Join them on April 6-13 for a weekend session led by John Philip Newell on the theme "Faiths Facing Each Other" followed by time during the week with Vicky Curtiss leading an exploration of "Practicing the Presence of God."
 
Those interested in taking part in this pilgrimage are asked to register online by January 15.

Announced This Friday by the Tribune 
Fourth Presbyterian Church has once again received the honor of being named one of the Top Workplaces in Chicago by the Chicago Tribune! Last year Fourth Church received 29th place in the "small organization" category; this year we moved up to 14th. 
 
We are proud of this achievement and look forward to maintaining our organization as a top workplace in the years to come.

Individually packaged snack items (5,000 per month) for Fourth Church Meals Ministry bag lunches and Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center emergency snack packs
 
Men's pants for guests of the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center
 
Large paper grocery bags for use in the Social Service Center Food Pantry (four grocery bags are needed for every guest who visits the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center Food Pantry)
