Additional Information

about the Charles Street Run

  • The Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin barricading the course at 7:00 AM on race morning (September 7th), but plan on being off the road by 6:00 AM just to be safe.

  • The road should be open for the Tuscany-Canterbury neighborhood by 10:00 AM, but again plan on it being closed until 11:00 AM in case there are any delays. The road will be completely open to the north at this time, and will continue to open towards the south as the race goes on.

  • Cross streets such as 39th Street, Highfield Road, and University Parkway in Tuscany-Canterbury will not be closed during the event, but you will not be able to use them to cross Charles Street.

  • No Parking signs will be posted a few days prior to the event, but they will only be in effect from 12:00 AM (midnight) on race morning until 10:30 AM. It will be made clear that parking is allowed outside of the times above even if the signs are still there.

  • The following parking zones will be in effect along the route from 12:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.: Along both sides of Charles Street, South of Overhill Rd to Lee Street.

  • Baltimore City and County Police will be stationed along the course, if emergency vehicles need to access Charles Street. The police will make sure that they get access in the safest and most efficient way possible.

  • There will be a water station in the area during the race. It will be located in front of Calvert Middle School, just north of Oak Place on Charles Street.

  • Due to permitting restrictions there is a 3-hour course limit for the race (15:00/mile pace). This time begins when the final wave leaves the Shops at Kenilworth, and applies to individual runners and relay teams. Participants who do not reach the relay exchange point (4.9mi) at 3-hour pace (15:00/mile) will be asked to continue on the sidewalk, or transported to the finish line via bus.
