THE ELEVATE CULTURE
ACCREDITED CLASSES
Little Elevate- Spring 2022
Each week our Elevater class (10th & 11th grade) travels to Hodge Elementary School to teach 5th graders Elevate's 13 Character Qualities and Life Skills. This week students learned about "Goal-Setting" and how to create S.M.A.R.T. goals. Through cross-age mentoring, our Elevaters become role models making an impact beyond the classroom.
MENTORING
Compassion Downtown- Student Night
Ms. Thompson took a group of her mentees to Student Night at the downtown campus. Students discussed the reality of life with or without a father and the significance a father's role plays in a child's life. Our young ladies were extremely receptive to this conversation as it allowed them to reflect on their own lives and connect with others who had similar experiences.
HeMotions- Barbershop Talk
This month we collaborated with licensed barbers from across the city of Savannah to provide free haircuts to our male students and asked them to speak on topics such as entrepreneurship, finances, dating and much more. The conversation was very intimate and left lasting impressions on our young males.
COLLEGE & CAREER
Ready to Work Job Fair
Our students had the opportunity to attend a district-wide "Ready to Work" job fair held at the Savannah Mall. Teacher-Mentors worked with students to create resumes, LinkedIn accounts and conducted mock interviews in preparation for this event. Some of the employers present were the Marine Corps, Gulf Stream, various universities, and more.
ADVENTURE
Spring Break 2022
Georgia Southern University Campus Tour
To kick-off Spring Break, Teacher-Mentors took students on a college tour of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. Students were inspired by the various degree program options and the beautiful scenic view of the campus.
Tybee Island Beach Clean Up
We dedicated Tuesday as a day of giving thanks and giving back by cleaning up Tybee Island Beach. After the clean up we enjoyed some fun in the sun. A special thanks to Young Life Savannah for lunch and extra helping hands.
Defy Savannah
To end off spring break, we took a trip to Defy Savannah. Students enjoyed their peers, jumping, ropes course, basketball and much more. Thanks to all of our students, parents, and staff for making this week a huge success!
ELEVATE SPOTLIGHT
Guest Speakers
We are proud to announce that we have officially launched our College and Career Guest Speaker Series. We have identified four (4) emerging industries in Savannah to expose students to career tracks in the field of Aerospace, Logistics and Construction, Healthcare, Business and Entrepreneurship. We are so thankful for our first two guest speakers in March. The Honorable Judge Lisa Colbert and entrepreneur and community advocate, Lady Mahogany. Our students were inspired by their success stories and enjoyed learning about their career paths.
